There are scenes here which very much reminded me of Weekend in a good way. Adam's childhood home was Andrew Haigh's actual childhood home. The scenes with Adam and Harry really felt like the actors trusted each other and you can see it in any of their interviews.

I like the theory that he is actually a medium and can see ghosts, meaning all those talks and beautiful moments he had with his boyfriend were real memories. It hurts a bit less seeing it that way. I bawled so much every time loneliness was mentioned. It really struck a chord with me.

2024-12-17 20:09:24 +0000 UTCyes it was loosely based on a novel called strangers written by a japanese author but andrew haigh made many changes for the film including the characters sexuality as it is a heterosexual couple in the book and a queer couple in the film - also all of the stuff in adam's home with his parents was actually shot in andrew haigh's childhood home which he said was quite surreal but also very cathartic for him which is why he chose to do so
