First time watcher here and oh my god this film is amazing!!! I love it so much!!! The crew here on the channel do such an amazing job with the media selection. I love seeing all of these little queer films for the first time 💙 Also yeah, Wil and Vivian both have me feeling some type of way over here 👀🥵🫣

2023-12-27 20:02:30 +0000 UTCI remember being a queer teen and finding this in the library DVD collection, being white in a mid sized Canadian town Saving Face means a lot to me personally to see not only a queer love story but also a queer POC story, as up until that point I had only ever seen white love stories,

Studios that saw potential in her script wanted to make it like My Big Fat Greek Wedding.[5] She was asked to make the characters white so that they could cast Reese Witherspoon as Wil and Ellen Burstyn as her mother. The studio then tried to compromise and asked to make the love interest white so that a star like Scarlett Johansson could bring more attention to the film. Despite further proposals for script changes, Wu maintained that the Mandarin dialogue, lesbian romance, and her involvement as both writer and director were non-negotiable.[3]
