In The Flesh! Yes! It was such an amazing series.( I saw the actor who plays Simon in a neighbouring city not long ago as he was helping to promote a local company who made amazing vegan doughnuts. Random!)

2023-08-31 04:53:10 +0000 UTCJesus it's been a long while since I last watched this film. I have it on dvd and everything but just haven’t gotten to it. But yeah this is a must watch and never fails to make me tear up. I’m a firm believer in what goes around comes around and this certainly encompasses that in the best way possible. I also believe that people a mostly good if you give them a chance and it’s nice to see that happen every once in a while.

2023-08-30 19:30:23 +0000 UTCIt's the unapologetic attitude whilst having compassion even for those who are ignorant. It's radical love basically (and happens to be what I feel as a Christian is meant to be the gospel message and duty but I'll get off my soap box for now). I always feel kind of in awe watching these things, and just think, thank goodness enough people were brave enough then that I could exist today. I'm enby and had top surgery almost a year ago and it hits different now, because I feel so incredibly grateful knowing that that treatment isn't available to so many people, but I was lucky enough, because of people who went before me whose names I don't even know, that it was there for me, and I could be treated with sympathy and understanding. I ache for people who still suffer, but it really does remind you, pride isn't just about self-respect, it's about ensuring others know they should be respected too and even just being seen can change things. It was so lovely watching this with you.

2023-08-30 08:00:58 +0000 UTCJust finished part 1 and as I always do when I watch this film…… I’m a sobbing mess 🥹 Bread and Roses ALWAYS gets me…. Also has me wondering how family of mine that I probably still have in Wales (my 2x great grandparents came from there to Australia) got along during that time

2023-08-30 03:47:57 +0000 UTCI sobbed like a baby the first time I saw this and I have on every rewatch since. I first saw it around 2015ish b/c Tumblr and Andrew Scott but it genuinely is one of my all time favorite movies. Incredible story, acting, music, god it’s all top tier. Imelda Staunton is a QUEEN. That scene with all the ladies and the dildo has me rolling on the floor every time. The way they incorporated Joe’s coming of age story into the history and larger overall picture is so breathtaking. The fact that it’s still SO RELEVANT to issues happening today is sad but it is encouraging to see how far we can all go when we work as a team. SOLIDARITY FOREVER - there IS power in a union ✊🏻✊🏻🔥🌈🏳️⚧️ I always love your reactions because you’re so dialed in to the politics and history of it all and this was no exception. Thanks for caring so much.

2023-08-30 02:28:58 +0000 UTCI’m so glad you enjoyed the movie! You’re so right about it being a must-watch for baby gays. I first watched it in early 2015 when I was still only a few years into figuring out my own queer identity, so it was definitely a great watch for me at the time. I bought the DVD and everything, lol. It was lovely getting to rewatch it with you, and it certainly held up to the praise I remember giving it. Kudos to everyone who suggested it! Also, have you ever heard of the BBC show In the Flesh? It’s not based on any true stories like Pride, but I rarely see anyone talk about it so I just wanted to mention it here! It has a very unique take on zombies and its main character is canonically queer. Unfortunately it was cancelled after only two short seasons (9 episodes total), but I would totally recommend it, whether just to watch on your own time or for a future reaction if more people suggest it!

2023-08-30 01:57:25 +0000 UTCI recently watched this movie for the first time on a day I was home sick and my god does it hit hard. Such an important movie. I think I sat and cried for an hour after it was over. It’s been a delight to rewatch it with you.
