Omfg okay, so this has been something I've been DYING to say about this episode: one of the things I love best about Lan Zhan's quoting of Wei Ying's single log bridge line isn't just that it's a fucking HEARTSTOPPING declaration of his feelings in front of the whole cultivation world, and not even just that it's a declaration of his love and devotion for Wei Ying TO Wei Ying. It's that it's also a confession, of how long he's felt this way. If you'll recall, by the time Wei Ying says the single log bridge line in episode 29, he's speaking to A-Yuan; he thinks Lan Zhan has already left, though we the audience are treated to that shot of Lan Zhan watching them longingly from just outside the burial grounds. Wei Ying thought he was gone, and yet, by quoting that line, it always feels to me Lan Zhan is saying, "I loved you even then, enough to stay longer than I knew I should, because there has never been anyone for me, but you," and, istg, that DOES ~THINGS TO MY HEART. ❤😭❤😭❤😭 (Also not for nothing but so few people notice the sword tugging in bed and I LOVE that you did! 😂😂😂😂😂😂) This episode is everything. 😍

The whole soundtrack is on youtube in one way or another but at some point they disabled comments which pissed me off for 2 reasons: 1. I wrote a long-ass comment explaining the yi city arc for someone who was confused about it on one of the videos and 2. all of the comments to the killer tune which went 'watch out for the qi deviation!' and 'pause the video here [time-stamp] or you'll be sorry!' are now vanished into the ether. I'm sure I mentioned it before, but the original Cleansing tune, the one LWJ played for Wei Wuxian way back when is actually a famous Chinese love song from the 80s. The 1980s. No, really. It's like if in Fellowship of the Ring the Lothlorien elves' lament for Gandalf was an elvish version of Wind Beneath My Wings (and I'm so there for it)

The staircase scene aka my favourite wangxian moment of the whole series 😭😭😭 Just.....LWJ's little smile, him using WWX's single log bridge quote basically as a love confession (publicly, in front of the heads of the entire cultivation world!!), WWX's overwhelmed expression of disbelief and relief and love, THE BACKGROUND MUSIC...I've seen it probably a hundred times by now and every. single. time. it makes me go absolutely feral.

me with my patreon tab open waiting for 10 pm my time and vibrating: pakige?! but seriously as you said this is one of the best episodes ( i esp love 42, 46, 44, like to the level of the ep 2 wrist grab), i cant remember how many times i watched the stairs scene (I KNEW IT WAS WEI YING, and the wrist holding again, and the motherfucking soft looks right in front of everybody's salad), but not only that, we got gay rain, gay undressing to check on wounds, gay wearing lwj's underrobes, gay touching wei wuxian by mr. lan "i don't like being touched" wangji, AND gay jerking a sword lmao so so so blessed
