What Germany Taught Me About Internet "Celebrities" VLOG

I was flown out to Gamescom by Facebook Gaming in 2018 and recorded wayyy too much footage. I have an in-depth discussion about how meeting YouTubers for the first time made me feel.

Like the Summer in the City vlog, this is more footage I've been sitting on from 2018. I recorded over 18 hours of video during Gamescom and it was such a monumental task to cut it down. I've managed to pull it together here for members though so I hope you enjoy!

The title is in reference to the put in the vlog where I dicuss how meeting YouTubers in person at SitC showed me that they were just regular people. This is something that everyone understands intellectually of course, but it's not until you actual meet and hang out with them that you realise how regular they really are. Celebrities, no matter how big, have the same quirks, pet peeves and anxieties as the rest of us. They aren't some special "chosen few". Meeting, talking to and hanging out with people who have millions of followers and for some, millions of dollars in their back account showed me that they're no different than you or I - just different walks of life.

I felt really inspired after this trip, but inspiration can be short lived - it takes consistent effort and perserverence to make progress which is something I've had to learn time and time again over the years. I eventually got dropped from Facebook for not pulling in enough viewers, but I was still incredibly thankful for the opportunity - I basically got paid to learn how to be a streamer. Now I continue to try to make my own way as a creator and memberships is part of that. Maybe one day I'll be pulling in thousands of viewers on Twitch, all I know for sure is that I'll keep working hard on my content.
