More 4-Direction Map Sprites! Let's decide together!
Added 2018-08-28 19:47:35 +0000 UTCHowdy everyone!
Lately I have been getting a lot of comments regarding the inclusion of more 4-direction map sprites in our releases, without of course, neglecting the 4-direction map sprites we already get in the Librarium animated releases!
As we see a ton of releases monthly (Around 16 new designs each month on average lately, excluding the megapacks, which by themselves add somewhere between 16 and 30 creatures to complement the 16 base designs), I had to carefully analyze how to approach such a feature, as it will entail a lot of work and planning, but after much careful thinking, taking into account my own energy and other key factors, I arrived to the idea of having a new reward tier, which would go like this:
Dragon Emperor Tier - USD $7 per update cycle
- Would include all the previous tiered rewards (Dragon and below)
- Receive the 4-direction map sprites for the featured Librarium Extra releases during the update cycle! (Up to 6 per update cycle)
- Receive the 4-direction map sprites to 4 select desgins for Librarium Megapack Line releases!
There is little of August left, so I figured this was the perfect time to start talking about this with our lovely community, so that if we arrive at a pleasing idea, we can test out this scheme this coming September!
I am thinking we would hold a poll to decide which Megapack released battlers would receive that 4-direction map sprite when such event occurs (As megapacks are not a monthly release).
Please let me know how you all feel about this!

You are right Susan! I need to bring more organization to the Librarium tileset's growth, definitely something I will tackle soon, even more so after this month's enhancement to the forest temple exterior: https://gyazo.com/a07ecc161aeb7ac0e80132924c4bee16 I think we definitely need a persistent thread for tileset development and suggestions, and then have a poll slot for those as well! Makes me happy to hear the direction of Librarium assets (Battlers, map sprites and tilesets) are helping out and being useful to you ! :D Thanks for the support and kind words!

2018-08-31 03:40:29 +0000 UTCThat's awesome! :D Another suggestion may be to rejuggle/add-on another tier to directly support the Librarium Tilesets where contributors can put in requests/suggestions for tiles (limited per resource pack/month, of course) somewhat like how the animated & static battlers are polled each month. I like how the battlers, map sprites and tilesets are in a consistent style, and I'm reducing the use of the RTP since I feel your style is much more aesthetic. Of course, please consider your time and health before all this and thanks a lot for all the fantastic resources. :)
2018-08-31 03:31:16 +0000 UTCAn excellent point to raise Susan! I actually have avoided using the RTP proportions and general style for Librarium humanoids for the very reason you mention since the inception of map sprites! I figured if I used RTP naked bases there would be problems for people who worked in non-RM engines, not to mention I thought there might have been issues with offering those as rewards if they used RTP assets and proportions as a base, so instead I made a Librarium base from scratch since the first map sprite release featuring humanoids! https://gyazo.com/2dda4cdf07bb17dc8ecc49c14fbf34a6 Like you suggested, we are using a more personal non-RM style luckily! Keeping Librarium separate from the base RM assets in order for them to be usable in any engine is also part of the reasons why I have never done RM remakes of existing battlers! (Even though I would love to! There are great designs there)

2018-08-31 03:19:30 +0000 UTCI'm definitely in for this, but I have a concern about MV style humanoid sprites since you are making resources that are meant to be useable in any engine. Would we be able to use the MV style sprites outside of RPG Maker, or would it be better to change the humanoids to a more personal non-RM style across the board? If there are people using your resources for commercial projects, they might prefer a different non-default-RM style since there's a lot of stigma with RM resources that makes RPG Maker games look distinctly RPG Maker.
2018-08-31 03:00:51 +0000 UTCI did take into account my own energy, should be good! :D Thanks!

2018-08-30 08:39:41 +0000 UTCI would be very excited for this tier. So long as it's not going to put too much on your plate! We don't want you getting burned out. But I'm very much looking forward to having sprites to match with the battlers :)

2018-08-29 15:18:20 +0000 UTCI think its a good idea, the more content you include the more possibilities you give for game creation. I would be more the willing to upgrade my pledge when possible.

2018-08-29 08:26:51 +0000 UTCNo worries Darkstar, as the current reward scheme stays at it is for Dragon, Minotaur, Wisp and Slime! One of my key aspects in introducing a new reward tier was not to take away from existing tiers!

2018-08-29 04:13:48 +0000 UTCI am torn.. I could definitely see using humanoid sprites especially if they are the same size and feel as standard mv character. Monster sprites are tougher since I don't know if I would want to show them when it's not a boss. This will be a tough call on whether I upgrade.

2018-08-29 00:15:15 +0000 UTCCount me in! You know I was hoping for this kind of thing!
2018-08-28 22:50:04 +0000 UTCI'd be happy to upgrade. I don't use battlers without 4-direction sprites, so the more you can supply, the better!
2018-08-28 21:54:14 +0000 UTCGood idea, I was thinking how you were going to cover the other existing releases.

2018-08-28 20:06:17 +0000 UTCHappy to hear! Regardig your question, the poll for the 4 select designs would grab its pool from the megapack releases when that applies, though your comment gave me the idea of making a monthly poll of a monster from the existing Library to receive a 4/direction map sprite monthly, to cover the months when we dont get a megapack!

2018-08-28 20:05:44 +0000 UTCI had been hoping you would do more 4 direction map sprites! Count me in!

2018-08-28 20:01:16 +0000 UTCIt could be a nice source of income for you ! But I think I would stay at the Classic Dragon Tier and maybe purchase some specific work you made. Would it be possible for you to manage this amount of work ? A few days ago you ask what kind of stuff we want to see on your channel, I think a FAQ would be nice. I would totally ask how long does it take you to work on different stuff you do !
2018-08-28 19:57:59 +0000 UTCWell, my first reaction was shut up and take my money, I'm happy a new reward tier is being thought of and having the character sprites will increase the usage of them in projects. Would the 4 extra 4-dir sprites be put to a poll or just new additions get this treatment?
