How the BTS army changed fandom culture

Comments

For Jim: troll and fake ARMY exist, they're the worst. If you click on many toxic ARMY account who write bad stuff online, you can see the account creation date being very recent, or find out oldest tweets about other groups that suddently changed into a BTS account, or even find out in some way that the same person behind that accout has also a fan account of other groups lol they even create group chats on discord where fandoms join forces just to decide a way to sabotage BTS or start a fight to ruin our reputation (we have many screen shoots of their conversations on how to destroy our fandom, it's pathetic lol). Not saying that ALL TOXIC ARMY are fake, but countless of time it's been the case. And I'm not even saying that other groups fandoms are bad, of course people doing stuff like this are the toxinc one of each fandom.

I want to make a correction on the video when she say that ARMY don't know much about BTS family members, how many sbilings they have etc, because only new fans can say this. Oldest fans like me know stuff like this and many other infos about their personal life because they used to talk about many of those stuff during oldest interviews. BUT WE KNOW JUST WHAT THEY SHARED. BTS used to be quite open with us, talking about their family, their childhood, of course not in detail, but even just small talks. With the fame growth I'm sure they become more cautious on what they share, but not even that much (take as example Hobi taking us to his parents house in his documentary, or even Namjoon recording a vlog in his own apartment). The difference is that ARMY don't try to find those infos, we respect their personal life and we just know what THEY decide to tell us.

I’ve been dealing with anxiety my whole life and been seeing a therapist for years, so I know the struggle. But when BTS had the permission to dance concerts in Los Angeles I traveled alone to Los Angeles from Denmark (13 hour flight), stayed there for 2 days alone and went to the BTS concert alone. I was so nervous I was shaking, but when I was standing in the line to get in, some ARMY’s started talking with me, and suddenly I became more calm. It was an amazing concert and experience of a life time, and everyone was so friendly! Idk what my point with this story is, but I just want to let you know, that ARMY’s really are as great as we’re told💜

it´s crazy how BTS can change you like that and inspire you to be good. but seeing how army´s help each other and translate BTS stuff on daily basis and give merch for free. and just like they send you albums and merch they do that to other army reactors too but only the serious once. i have not seen that before with any other fandom. Actually two other reactors i follow is twins and they are going to Suga´s concert in NY and they bought 4 tickets so that they could give away 2 tickets to army for free. Army then send in drawings videos and letters of why they should win. so the winner was a woman who could rap Suga´s entire Agust D track in korean. and she even made her own mv version of it. she was just SO good. The tickets prize had a value of 2000k, VIP floor tickets. they earn money from patreon and use that money to help army´s. they also hired a korean teacher so they can learn korean and they can already read some korean. the classes is recorded so we all can learn it too. i learned alot.

I have an idea - maybe the Brohas should sponsor one of the ARMY projects put on by One In An ARMY (the official charity arm). Looks like right now they are still promoting the project for Yoongi’s birthday. They also have several Bonus Missions going on. Jim could just pick one that speaks to him, and we can donate to it in the name of BTS Sunday. Even if people can give monetarily, they could jump on the hashtag campaign and promote the project. I bet One In An ARMY would appreciate it.

oh I needed this today! I am proud to be part of ARMY and BTS they gave me so much strength it is overflowing. I want to give back I want to spread this joy to be in this fandom. I feel my words are too clumsy to convey my fealings. let just say this 7 men inspired me to be kinder to others and to myself. Borahae

the only reason why people has an issue with her is that she only cover BTS that´s it. so when she say something good BTS has done, other fandoms and multistans think she unaware that a certain group did something good too. but why would she even mention that when this is a BTS video. I feel the same way you do i am extremally proud and i want to help BTS and Army too. it took some time to think of the best way for me to help, because i am not rich or mobile enough to actually go out and help. so i mainly stream and buy BTS songs and i join radio streaming. i put on a playlist of BTS and have it in the background. i did that before too but now i know how to do it correctly so that is beneficial to BTS. for my first ever BTS concert was the Busan cinema version and the army´s i met there was just as amazing that i have hoped. Even the staff told me Army was so respectful. and it has been their biggest movie event so far. I got free merch from armys and i gave some too. and one luckly army won a Army bomb. we all took pictures together witch we uploaded on social media after. in front of me was two older ladys both filming the screens and sang. by the screams i think one of them was a Jimin bias hehe. next to me was an army from a different country she was on vacation here bt she still didn´t want to miss the concert hehe. the mom on the other side of me filmed the screen to and was fangirling so hard, even more than her two daughters next to her it was hilarious.

If you get a chance you should go to one of they show, I know dealing with anxiety can be tough but remember you will be surrounded by people willing to help you and keep you safe.

When you put yourself out in the world, there is always a risk that you may be hurt. But BTS have done so continuously, despite the vilest attacks, and they stand strong to inspire us to be brave enough to show others our vulnerabilities. That's one of the reasons why we connect so strongly with them and each other.💜 While we may sometimes argue loudly what is and is not the ARMY way, that discussion keeps us mindful of our core values: respect, kindness, charity, love, community. No matter how they malign and sabotage us, ARMY will keep ARMYing.💜

videos like this always make me feel proud to be an ARMY! I agree with what they were saying about all of us rejecting the stereotype of all of us being *crazy* fans. we don't want to be called crazy, I think a better word would simply be that we are dedicated. We are dedicated to protecting BTS, each other, and the world around us and are doing the best we can to make that happen. I was subscribed to THAT fake reactor you were mentioning before learning about what he had said before and scrolling through the comments of his community post addressing it, I saw how many people were just trying to help him out of the hole he kept digging for himself, telling him what BTS and ARMY stand for and that we don't really appreciate what he had said. The thing about that was that he never actually apologized for what he said, he just kept victimizing himself... anyways no more negativity! I don't wanna toot our own horn (im gonna do it anyways cuz we deserve it lol) but we really are the best fandom :)
