Duration: 70 minutes  (Episode: 30 mins - Album: 50 mins)

!! About this Album -  LOVE YOURSELF: HER !!

“Loving yourself is the beginning of true love”. LOVE YOURSELF: 'HER' marks the beginning of the LOVE YOURSELF journey where all the different faces of love will be expressed.

LY: 'HER' is an expression of the elation of love and how a new sudden love can become everything to you. The “love” that BTS aims to convey in the LOVE YOURSELF series is both the individual experience of a boy growing into adulthood and a message of peace and unity to our society today. In the mini album 'HER' that begins this new narrative, the image of boys in love for the first time are expressed in a refreshing and cheerful take that aims to talk about the topic of “love” while immersed in a coming-of-age tale.

Intro: Serendipity: Jimin starts of the album with his intro, you listened to the shorter version of this song that was on LY:Her album, and today you will get to listen to the full version released in LY: Answer. The lyrics are gender neutral and deal with the ideas of intimate love and identity. RM talked about the meaning behind the song: “When I wrote the lyrics, melodies and the first themes of ‘Serendipity,’ I tried to come up with some rare things you find in life, something very special, like the calico, three-striped cat; things that have extraordinary meanings in people’s lives. I wanted to share this moment.”

DNA: Expanding on Serendipity’s lyrics about a love destined to be, DNA, being fundamental qualities that are unchangeable, talks about this new passionate fated love. A love that started with the start of the universe, in past lives, and will continue for centuries, BTS have fallen head first in this deep love.

According to RM: ‘DNA’ is taking BTS to new ground, we tried to apply new grammar and perspectives. If you listen to the song, you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. It’s very different from our previous music, technically and musically. I believe it’s going to be the starting point of a second chapter of our career; the beginning of our Chapter Two.”

Best of Me: BTS sing to ‘Her’, stating that their love has become their everything and are asking to be able to keep their love forever. While this song is a fantastic way to explore this album's theme, RM also revealed that he wrote the lyrics of this song while thinking about army.

This song is a collaboration with Chainsmokers (American DJ and production duo).

Dimple: This vocal line song continues to describe ‘

’, admiring the Dimples on the cheeks, and tell how they feel so mesmerized that even just a smile is dangerous for their heart and makes it beat faster and faster.

Pied Piper: The story of the Pied Piper is a man who entrances and captivates the youth with his music and leads them away, and in this song BTS are addressing ARMY obsessing over BTS and their content. BTS says to follow the pipe, as they are here to save/ruin armys and drive them away from responsibilities, while warning us to still live our own lives. They are a temptation, they apologize for it but it won’t change either. Tough love.

Skits: Billboard Music Awards Speech: this is just the speech they gave and ends with a beat for the next song called Mic Drop ;)

Mic Drop: After their first BBMA win in 2017, they produced this song to all their haters and they are flexing their success in an almost satirical way, stating their hands are not enough to hold all their awards. They say “this is the last farewell” to their haters, they don't need any apologies and won't waste any more effort on people who wish ill on them. This is the original song version released with the album.

Mic drop - Steve Aoki Remix: This remix was released as a single shortly after the album drop and became the version BTS performed to in their US activities because it features more english lyrics.

Go Go: The song approaches criticism of the materialism rife in society through parody. The trick lies in the dissonance between the vibe and the lyrics — it sounds like a tropical party anthem but the words tear off the facade of extravagance when J-Hope raps, “I don’t have the money but I want to leave, far away.” RM talking about this song- “‘Go go’ is a trendy song, but it’s about how our young generation are living their lives with low expectations and standards so people are upset with reality; they have little hope and there’s so much economic hardship. We wanted to say something about it and emphasize to the world that it’s not their choice, but brutal reality that forces people to live and spend as if there’s no future.”

Outro: Her: This album was filled with songs of admiration for “Her” and their love, but what happens when the mask starts to break? RM in talking about ‘Outro: Her’ “I thought it was the right outro for this album because it is really a range of emotions — I’m saying I met this person that I really love, this person is the love of my life right now…If you want to love a person, you should know that there are tears and there can even be hatred inside of it. I think a love really includes all of that. That’s what I was trying to say. It’s complex.”

(hidden track) Skit: Hesitation & Fear: A hidden ‘track’ only available on the physical album, BTS talk about their win at the BMA’s, their career up to now, their struggles to reach it, and the uncertain future.

(hidden track) Sea: This song is about the hardships and mental pains that BTS experienced through the years. They were struggling, scared because they came from a small company and were competing against large agencies. They fear that everything they achieved will suddenly disappear.

My thoughts on Go Go is that it's a double edged sword. It criticizes the capitalistic, hedonistic mentality but also blames the society as a whole for the bleakness of the youth's future. Yes, the youth are spending their money on shit for instant gratification but also, they do this because the idea of saving all of it until they're old, thinking that they might maybe be able to buy a house in 20 years, is insane. Are the kids supposed to withhold happiness so they might be able to enjoy life when they get old? So yes, it's not a healthy lifestyle, but what are the youth supposed to do?

Thank you for putting this on Patreon so quick! I was kind of in and out on Sunday, so I couldn’t catch it all. I really think you should give Sea a couple more listens (and definitely read the lyrics again). Maybe you were running out of time but while there wasn’t as much musically going on with Sea as there was with like DNA or Pied Piper, Sea is more of a lyrically based song and means a lot to a lot of ARMYs, so be sure to ruminate on it a bit💜💜

Thanks for sharing! i couldn’t watch the stream yesterday. My comment about the songs: Gogo it’s not telling you to spend or to save, I think it’s just explaining to those who criticize young people for expending like there’s no tomorrow, that its because it feels that way to us. Sea : I don’t think it’s talking about the fear of loosing it all, I think it’s a lot more heartbreaking; to me it’s clear they are talking about how when they finally got everything they wanted they realized it didn’t really changed anything, the mirage they were running towards was just an other desert, the sea is a blue desert they can’t drink water from, the problems they had before changed name turned into different problems but didn’t disappear. I really cried when the album came out and heard this song. They were so so candid and vulnerable I hated to think that they worked so hard to achieve their dreams only for that successes to feel empty.
