Here's part 2 of the Cymatics tutorial.

Part 1, which covers the simulation can be accessed here.

This covers rendering and lighting using Karma XPU, camera constraints in Solaris, applying time remapping from SOPs in Solaris and some techniques to add a more photographic feel to your renders.

Hi John. I know it could be out of your range of interest but please concider making introduction to Linux for Houdini Artists type of video. I had so many issues with nvidia/cuda drivers, Houdini crashing, setting up third-party plugins it drove me back to windows, and there is no one to explain it like you do. Also happy to see you make more Karma videos, very valuable.

Easier to set up in SOPs: Put down a Point Wrangle at the very end (e.g. after Trail), with: @id = @ptnum; After that, use a Color node set to Random From Attribute, and choose id. In the Particles material, use a MtlX Geometry Property Value node, set it to "Color" and type in: displayColor Now you can use a MtlX Color Ramp afterwards to tune in your colors and pipe that into "base_color".

Great video John! Quick question about MTX: want to input a color ramp as color for the particles. I tried to feed in "ids" with a mtxUSDprimvarreader but every particle have the same color.
