Continuing along the topic of knitting, I wanted to breakdown and share the process of my recent project which uses the same techniques I just covered recently.
You can view the final project on Behance here https://www.behance.net/gallery/173591445/Sleeve-Machine
In this project, I animated a bunch of curves using KineFX, these are then used to drive a Vellum simulation by influencing the constraints of the sim. Finally the knitting technique is applied to the result of the simulation in the most efficient way that I could find (generating the knit curves on a single frame which doesn't require cooking as the timeline is changed and then deforming these curves to match the simulated

I also cover my lighting and shading setup with redshift as well as a bit of compositing tips at the end.
Hopefully this helps to see how that knitting technique could be applied to a more visually interesting scene as well as inspire you to think of some other ways to apply the knitting and weaving concepts.
