Building on the techniques from the rope tutorial, we're moving on to braiding techniques.
Learn how VEX can be used to create "over under" basket style woven threads.
Point attributes are also used to further enhance and shape the weave.
Any remaining interpenetrations of the woven geometry is then resolved using the detangle SOP to procedurally resolve collisions.
Animation and color cycling is also driven by some useful VEX functions which can be seamlessly looped.
Lastly the Redshift lighting, camera, and shading setup is explained.
- Basic camera enhancements to add a natural handheld motion.
- Lighting with a texture projection to simulate light passing through trees
- Displacement settings and layering of texture map and procedural functions to further control the shape of the fabric
- srgb to ACES osl used to convert point color to ACES
- PostFX to final the camera effects and make things feel a bit more photographic
