Houdini Quick tip #06 (Don't use spaces)
Added 2018-10-13 11:32:54 +0000 UTCI faced alot of crashes while working on my previous post Money gun (Houdini 17 Vellum) and when I contacted Sidefx about it, one of their responses was and I quote:
-"Please try not to put empty spaces in any file name in Houdini. Houdini was developed on a Linux OS, and thus does not handle spaces in names well. This sometimes causes odd crashes. For example, rename "Money gun-09.hiplc" to "Money_gun_09.hiplc" (hyphens are also a bad choice). Or rename "Money gun.ABC" to "Money_gun.ABC". "
Well at first I said they must be kidding a space can ruin my work, but I started removing those spaces from the Houdini file name and other assets being used, and to my surprise it stopped throwing any errors or crashes.
OMG what a space can do, also Varomix Wey on Housini Artists FB page advised that even the file path and folder names shouldn't have spaces.

Thank You very much.

2018-10-20 04:49:17 +0000 UTCI had a similar problem when Mantra wasn't working if the file name had spaces, I guess it was on H15. I got traumatized and i'm not using spaces since that day ;) I also had problems with .. (2 dots) at folders names on gridmarkets. It looks like 2 dots is a command to go up one folder (or something like this) on linux
