Not only did David Tennant step down from the role of the Doctor following this special, Russell T. Davies stepped down as head writer and showrunner, with Steven Moffat taking over those duties instead. The good news is that Moffat isn't a newcomer to the show overall, he wrote the episodes "The Empty Child", "The Doctor Dances", "The Girl In the Fireplace", "Blink", "Time Crash", "Silence In the Library" and "Forest of the Dead".
