Chapter Five - The Encounter

Systems are inactive. Core is damaged. Ship’s hull is shattered. Beginning scan.

Thip had crashed in a forest of strange purple trees. The trees ooze a thick purple syrup from beneath their bark and swayed heavily in the wind. Purple leaves and a scent of tar fill the air. The tree has veins and pulses moving it’s fluids to its leaves to use for photosynthesis.

The hull seems to be covered in this purple fluid. I need to map the area and find some suitable nuclear material assuming the genetic code has survived.

Shortly after Thip began to get their bearing two small orb-like ships emerged from a nearby bush. To Thip’s surprise this forest was the perfect place for their orbs to reproduce. Without any effort, Thip had completed their mission. Soon the twelve mini-ships will be complete as soon as Thip finds the source of the nuclear energy.

The small ships developed repair tools to aid Thip in repairing their hull. Using scanning and lasers the small ships were able to mend Thip’s holes and repair their core using their metal telescoping arms. Soon Thip was entirely repaired and supplied with extra energy from the mini-ships. Ready to find what the forest holds, Thip guides their followers through the forest and into the unknown.

Upon further inspection of the trees Thip notices that small purple mushrooms grow on the trees. All of the nearby trees seem to be highly radiated. They likely absorb radiation from the sun and store it inside their core. The ground is saturated with the fluid with purple grass growing from the forest floor. Much of the forest was illuminated by the bioluminescence of many of the local fauna.

Two of the mini soul-ships decided that it would be fun to have a race through the forest one day as Thip was distracted analyzing the soil in the area. Zipping and racing through the trees the young ships pulled ahead of one another. The ship in the front suddenly stops its engines and slows down causing the other mini-ship to also slow. Before them a delicate and ghostly deer stands. Its presence is awe striking and can shake the soul of any being. In the side of its body a large hole is seen. It turns it’s head to the two small ships. Its eyes open glowing a glorious light blue. Slowly small teeth emerge from the outer edge of its hole. It’s eyes turn red.

Quickly the ships zip away from the scene, terrified of what they had just witnessed. When they finally got far enough to feel safe they looked behind them and only darkness can be seen.
