The warp drive cracked and sent Tihp into an uncontrolled spin. Tihp was able to dissipate enough energy by firing the last of the pressurized hydrogen into space, stabilizing their trajectory however leaving the ship unable to function. All there is to do now is drift through space towards the unknown. It felt like an eternity.
The mind has time to think of many things when on a journey. There is so much time and so much uncertainty. All you can do is think about your existence. It is dark for now but Tihp was accustomed to this life of travel. It is all they've ever known and it has granted them great philosophical secrets. If only they could explore the surface of a planet once again.
Prototype Eu2 ushered in a new wave of technology for the Elern. It allowed a user to forfeit their natural body and attach their soul to a liquid solution. The solution would be imbued with the entire body of the individual, essentially preserving the essence of the user's soul and form inside of an orb-shaped interstellar ship. The ship was fitted with the best technology, an N-16 warp-drive capable of 126 light-units per core.
The Elern had discovered a way to preserve their RNA data inside of a nitrogen cube suspended in an oxygen solution surrounded by an electromagnetic force. This allowed the RNA to stay preserved over an extremely long period of time assuming the cores continue to power the ship. When the ship arrives on a planet it would be able to replicate its DNA by reversing the data. This allows the ship to reproduce itself and continue to travel and produce replicates. However, a source of nuclear energy and raw materials are always required to reproduce and feed.
In the 16th year of the ship’s production the Elern had finally found a way to isolate an Elernian soul and inject it into the solution inside of the ship. Finally, Prototype Eu2 would awaken adrift in space. The interstellar ship was named Tihp, the name of the Elern who had given up their form.
How long have I been drifting? The excess radiation in my engine is starting to dissipate. Is this how I die? I should have just stayed on that other planet, however volatile. My friends have probably already perished. I can’t fail at this.
Tihp started to become concerned. The RNA won’t survive without the radiation fuel and their entire purpose is propagation and the continuation of the Elern. Thinking of solutions Tihp was able to pull the core closer to the center of the ship somewhat preserving the radiation decay but causing some radiation damage to the internals of the ship and the solution Tihp is suspended in. Tihp felt it was a sacrifice that needed to be made. They could only hope that they would find a planet soon before the radiation leaks into the inner solution.
