This is one of my favourite episode of the entire series! Essentially the 3rd part of the FitzSimmons saga, after Jemma's season 3 ep 4,722 and Fitz's season 5 ep Rewind, Inescapable is a homage to their characters. I loved how the writers took a step back from the main storyline to concentrate on FitzSimmons, they could have made their escape a side plot to what is happening back on Earth, but no, they give us a whole epiode dedicated to our favourite couple, MCU or not. This episode was a rollercoaster from start to finish and covered every emotion from happiness to sorrow with a hint of horror thrown in. We knew Fitz had a dark side, his brain injury at the end of season one leading to the appearance of The Doctor in season 4, but Jemma's dark persona came as a bit of a shock! I guess we shouldnt have been too surprised as the amount of horrifying events that she has had to endure would haunt even the strongest of us. Her was of coping is to force it out of her mind and forgetting about them (ie putting them in her music box) rather than discussing them. And so her dark side persona, ID Simmons, is an amalgam of all her worst memory's...her corpse like appearance from when she had to crawl out of her own grave in the framework, her costume is a mix of Maveth, along with her bone knife, and future Earth where she was a slave of Casius, and she even has remnants of the gold makeup that she wore then. The result is terrifying. I could go on, but will just make do with....what a great episode!
