Buffy The Vampire Slayer 7x22 "Chosen" Full Reaction

This finale was just a finale and a half. It does feel short because the pace is just so quick.....but that imagery of the open road and Buffy smiling at the end, finally not alone.....couldn't have ended on a better note x

Loved taking the Buffy journey with you, Arvin... 144 episodes of being put through the emotional rollercoaster! Don't worry, in the nearly 20 years since this aired, the finale has settled well. Some people wouldn't preferred 5x22 The Gift to be the series finale, and I can see why. We're told lots of stories in our culture of self sacrifice as the ultimate good. But 7x22 is a much more hopeful finale. Instead of escaping the burden of being a (the) slayer through self sacrifice/self annihilation, Buffy addresses the burden part of slayerhood directly. The alone-ness of it was the burden. Buffy had always found a way round that, via her friendships with Willow and Xander (and her Mum, and Giles, and Dawn, and Angel and Riley, and Spike), but it was imperfect. But it's fitting that she and Willow are able to connect and collaborate to change the meaning of slayerhood into something connected and collaborative. Being good isn't one heroic act or moment. It's acting in solidarity and collaboration with our fellow human beings, it's setting an example to others, and it's being accountable to others. That smile at the end was a perfect way to end the show to me. Full of all the hope and strength and love that we've come to know of Buffy over the years. I love this finale so much. Looking forward to finishing off the Buffyverse with you- and getting a bit more caught up with your Lost reactions! (I was a big Lost dork back in the day, even wrote for the Philosophy and Popular Culture book about Lost).

And as it's been said before, the second you hear the those violins starting the Angel theme song, turn away until the song is over. It was silly that they put a major spoiler in the intro, but It's the only intro you have to skip. After the first episode, it's fine to watch them.

It could have been 5 hours long and it still would have felt to quick. It's not the end though. Still one more season of the Buffyverse, onward to Angel Season 5. There are multiple comic books that are considered extra "Seasons" of Buffy. Ive only read "Season 8". After Angel season 5, take a look around online and you might be able to find them.

Congrats on finishing Buffy! Just wanna tell you now, that when you watch Angel 5x01, please DO NOT WATCH THE OPENING CREDITS! Contains SPOILER! After you finish episode 5x01 though you can watch the opening credits
