Agents of SHIELD 3x01 UNCUT Reaction

yay! so excited to see you experience more shield. loved the reaction! don’t worry, you’ll get used to the daisy thing. it just takes a bit of time. the atcu want to contain inhumans and haven’t been killing them, yes, but they are much more willing to use lethal force than shield. i love the partnership between daisy and mack, especially considering his previous stance on alien things. they’ve got a pretty sweet brother/sister type dynamic that is really nice to see. as we see in this ep, lincoln has really been affected by what happened with afterlife and i know a lot of people have been quick to judge him for acting different, but i really sympathize with him. there’s more to be learned about his history that i wont spoil but it’s common for inhumans to feel a kind of emptiness in their lives, sort of lost. we know daisy did and he did as well. jiaying and gordon, everyone at afterlife really, meant a lot to him. they gave him a home and a place, a purpose. they helped him quite a bit and everything he knows about inhumans he learned from them. he trusted them. and they used him to hurt others, lied and manipulated him into fighting in a war they started. daisy had shield to go back to when afterlife fell apart. lincoln didn’t have that. he lost nearly everything. he thought he could trust the people giving him orders but it turned out nothing was as it seemed and they’d tricked him into hurting innocent people, fighting for their twisted agenda. he feels like it was all a lie. he just wants to try to live a normal life now. basically everything with jiaying and afterlife was really hard on him and he’s got a lot going on trying to move on. we’re seeing a much less composed/chill, more hurt and guarded and angry version of lincoln than we did last season. it may seem stupid not to go with shield and he may kind of seem like he’s being an ass but he doesn’t really know them like we as viewers do and there are very valid reasons for the way he’s feeling. he was taught for a long time not to trust shield and he doesn’t want to work for anyone/follow orders anymore because of what happened the last time he did. given the circumstances, his mistrust and feeling like he has to rely only on himself is a pretty normal response. betrayal like that can really twist how you see the world. more than anything lincoln is just scared and hurt.
