So, I mention this because you didn't react to it, which likely means you don't know. Virgil Swan, the man who gave Clark the message, was played by the late Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in the original 80's Superman films. It was a huge thing when this show aired. I debated telling you this. It is not a spoiler, It was something everyone knew when the show aired, and it's actually something the viewer is supposed to already know when they see him. His cameo was set up in such a way that the writers were assuming the viewer knows, and therefore sees the signifigance of his appearance. At the same time, though, I was worried other viewers might view this as a spoiler and get pissed at me, or that you might. I decided, since it doesn't give anything away, I'd tell you, because I feel that you lose something from the experience by not knowing. I hate spoilers, I told you this because it enhances the experience for you, and this way, you can view it with the emotional impact you're meant to have. In addition, when Christopher Reeve was on screen, the epic score that was playing was the score from the same Superman films. The music is from John Williams, and it's one of the most powerful scores of all time. Don't look up Reeve or the movies, because it will give you more than you need, but if you get a chance, listen to the score, the Superman theme song. It's so much more poweful, hearing the few chords of that score when you know where it's from. Great reaction. Looking forward to lots more.
