I'm going to throw in two extra pieces this month because I think they are just awesome. I've recently been trying to take my art skills to the next level, and I basically made it a habit to draw stuff all the time. That's the only way to really get better.
As a result, I'll often end up with "practice" pieces that weren't really part of my original posting schedule. You'll notice a pattern with these pieces, in that they all involve Sailor Senshi. That's because I really enjoy drawing them, and it also removes some decision paralysis when it comes to making art. So instead of me sitting for hours pondering who to draw, I know that it'll be a scene with "Sailor Mercury in XYZ situation". It also forces me to get creative!
So the two pieces I ended up with are:
1. Sailor Mercury in water trap peril - an idea I had to use Mercury's power of water against her! A new type of peril for me, as I normally don't do water traps. I looked at old magician's tanks for some ideas. Had her bound and gagged to increase the peril. The villain is a monster I made up, with a sort of sexy magician's theme.
2. Sailor Jupiter vs. a DD Girl - I'm blown away at how good this one turned out! I used this piece as an exercise in perspective and action. I'm pretty good at getting the coloring and shading down, but I'm always a little disappointed that many of my pieces seem to lack...something. As I am maturing as an artist, that missing piece is finally starting to click: good art needs to tell a story. Story telling is accomplished through many subjective parts: composition, expressions, scenery, lighting. Everything came together so well with this piece.
That's all I really wanted to share - examples of work I do to get better. In the comments let me know which piece you liked better! Thanks!
PS: I am likely going to take a short (one week) break from posting due to the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. I'll be using the time to plan out December's art.
