She didn't deserve to die. He didn't need to cruelly take advantage of these sisters. So messed up.

It is just heartbreaking that these young people's lives have been ruined because no one was able to advise them plausibly on impermanence. I don't believe that we should ever tell young people things like "you'll understand when you're older" as though we are speaking from great heights and are not ourselves subject to continuous change, but I do think that a sane, trusted, deeply involved adult could have made a big difference in this outcome. I was stunned when the young man so blithely said that he had plans to kill himself in a couple of years. Who knew this? Couldn't someone have given him comfort and/or counseling related to what is and is not helpful in relationships? Who knew that Fatiha was making life plans with a young man she had met only once? This is such a tragedy, it's heartbreaking.
