To Our Loyal Supporters:
There will be some slight production delays as we move into the weekend and early next week, as we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of a relatively wide-spread fraud and misappropriation investigation regarding our formal network partner Kast Media.
The reality of the situation - is that Kast Media defrauded several podcasters, including myself - to the tune of an estimated $4-$5 Million US dollars (or more). The impact to Invisible Choir was relatively small compared to the other major productions that were previously part of Kast Media (see Theo Von's segment from "This Past Weekend" that aired yesterday for context), as I am not a celebrity and I have maintained complete independence over our production operations from day one.
The reality of the situation - is that the money they did steal from us, the exact amount of which I am still trying to determine based upon intentionally vague and deceptive accounting practices, was enough to sting our small, independent operation. I began piecing together the accounting missteps as early as last Spring, 2022 - but continued our partnership in good faith despite several breaches of contract. In June of 2023, I made the decision to initiate a legal termination of our representation agreement after it was clear to me that Kast Media CEO Colin Thomson was engaging in unethical, and potentially illegal business practices, by trying to force us into a bad deal with Podcast One as part of a distressed asset acquisition.
Anyhow, I have had to rearrange my schedule this week to prepare materials for interested parties who are now examining the potentially widespread fraud that Kast Media *allegedly* engaged in over the last several years. There will be a bonus episode and full-length episode coming later this weekend or early next week as a result. My sincere apologies for the delay. I have tried my best since transitioning the show away from Kast in June and completely rebranding the podcast - to keep production delays to a minimum while many others shows went completely offline to manage the mess behind-the-scenes.
I'm done remaining silent on this issue. I will discuss the situation at more length on the free-regular feed (and here on Patreon) to give our listeners some context on what has transpired behind the scenes. Stay tuned, and thank you for your continued loyal support. You all are literally the only reason I have been able to operate the business through this storm, and for that, I am sincerely appreciative and indebted to your generosity.
Colin Thomson whistled at night... and he should have never done that.
