No Rolls Barred Pricing Update

Hello NeRBs!

It’s me, Laurie from No Rolls Barred, with a much needed Patreon Update! First of all we want to say a massive thank you to every single person who has ever supported us on Patreon. We genuinely mean it when we say we could not continue to do this without you and your support has allowed us to grow NRB to the point it’s at now.

But I’m going to level with you, this year has been tough: the money we make from YouTube has drastically decreased. Despite all of the ads they’re serving you guys, it’s not being passed along to creators. Most of our videos barely cover direct costs (cast, crew, editing) and bigger projects like Monopoly… But, because of their extra preparation time, lose us money even while being the best performing videos on the channel.

Some of our costs have also gone up, largely due to inflation, rising rents and energy prices, but also some quality of life stuff like new equipment, higher rates for our freelance cast, and new hires like Production Coordinator Ben, our production assistant Courtney, Dan the Business Admin Man and more - which are all essential to us delivering an average 10 videos a month on NRB alone.

We’ve resisted raising the prices of our Patreon for three years now, but the way YouTube is trending, unfortunately we can’t afford to do that any more. So we’re making some increases to our tiers:

$5 will increase to $6.50

$10 will increase to $11.50

$25 will increase to $30

We’ll also be adding a $2 support tier if you want to support without all the extras, and for the time being we will be removing our tiers above $30 while we restructure what we’re offering.

Speaking of restructuring, we’ll be doing some tidying up in our existing tiers to make it clearer what we’re actually offering.

$2 TIER

This is just to support us!

$6.50 TIER

Exclusive Blood on the Clocktower episode (monthly)

King's Dilemma episode (monthly, until its conclusion)

Access to our fan Discord

$11.50 TIER

Exclusive Board Game Club in-studio episode (monthly)

Exclusive Board Game LEGACY in-studio episode (monthly, beginning when King's Dilemma concludes)

$30 TIER

Your name in the credits on all NRB content.

So those are the new tiers! Yes, that does mean we will be saying goodbye to the Uncut Board Game Club episodes. Sadly we found that splitting our audience for each Board Game Club upload hasn’t helped the YouTube side of things (it lowers the viewership for the public version, which the all-powerful YouTube algorithm doesn't like). We also found that Uncut episodes were the Patreon offering people were least excited about in our survey earlier this year, so hopefully this isn’t too much of a blow.

That said, this list doesn’t include other exclusive bits of content like bonus episodes as they come up, and we already have some great stuff in the pipeline: who can guess what we might be working on?

Please note that this change won’t be coming into effect on Patreon for 30 days, so your subscription won’t be altered until then. On the 27th November, all existing Patreons will have their pledge amounts updated automatically.

Once again I’d just like to say thank you for all of your support, whether you’ve been with us on Patreon for three years or you just joined this month, I genuinely mean it when I say that we couldn’t do this without you, and, if you let us, we hope to keep you well fed with content for years to come.

Stay on Board!

Laurie x

Ha! I just (finally) signed up the other day. Relieved to see I already subscribed at the new cost (which is totally justifiable and already a bit of an underselling of your value, but don’t we all do that?)

Holly Scott Laukkonen

I am partially with you on the uncut videos, Chris. As I have said before, the production team knows when a particular video would make an amazing uncut version. (Think some of Molly Rose's stuff. Where would I be today if I did not know about her sniffing kids in karate class? And what about Dom's Euripides trousers?) When there is content that is amazing but needs to be behind a pay wall, I really hope we can still get an uncut version of it for the patrons. It could be that the uncut stuff ranked low because the patrons are not aware of some of the stuff they would be missing when only watching the cut videos...

Bryon

You misunderstood my point - the Legacy ones which are replacing kings dilemma are being moved to the 11.50 tier instead of the currently 5, soon to be 6.50 tier, i would continue to pay that, but not for less content. Therefore for the same level of content its actually an additional 6.50 over what we currently pay.

Miles

It's comments like these that, while I've always been a supporter anyway, genuinely has gotten me to reframe why I'm supporting. I've always been here for the WrestleTalk lads, I just used to actually additionally care more about the exclusives. Now I say turn that s word loose to show everybody else what they're missing, like that's 6 month exclusivity window with a patron vote idea that somebody else had

Micah Newby

Your content is priceless!! Happy to support at the level that I can <3

Raena

A lot of us are paying to support the channel as much as we are for the extra content. I personally wouldn't mind if none of the content was even exclusive. I can spare 6.50 for something that brings me genuine joy every day. What else am I going to do with it, buy a coffee that I will have swallowed in a matter of minutes? Producing quality content is hard. All career youtubers supplement with other things. I want to see NRB stick around for a long time

Burgundy

It's 1.50. If you were already paying every month and you feel that way, I don't think the price change is a genuine factor.

Burgundy

You can pay whatever you want, but it will default you to the lower tier rewards/extras. So if you pledge $10, you get the $6.50 benefits. If you pledge $20, you get $11.50 etc. If they restructure, they can auto adjust your tier, but they have to give you time to opt out (they gave 30 days).

Lindsay M.H.

A price rise for the same content, I could cope with. But im only interested in actual playing content, not the reviews and discussion pieces. If the new Legacy was added to this tier to replace KD then I would have continued the subscription but I fear that when it finishes, I will have to cancel, I will miss the online game and BOTC episodes but its just too steep without the legacy game. I will probaby end up just buying 1 month subscription this time next year and binge 24 videos that I want to see rather than supporting throughout the year.

Miles

Dom at the end!!! 😆😆😆😆 "It's not a character! Ah ha ha!"

bcbwb

Staying on booood!!! $11.50 is fine because late stage capitalism is eating all! 😆

Doc Palindrome

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you at NRB for the amazing work you do. I would never buy, and probably not play, many of the games that you feature, but watching all of you smart, funny people who clearly love each other play together is by turns hilarious, gripping, touching and inspiring. I subscribe at the highest tier (you are the only Patreon I subscribe to) because I want you to be fairly compensated for the work that you do. I will say that on Patreon I enjoy the additional BOTC content, and I loved discovering King's Dilemma, but it's the Uncut BGC episodes that I enjoy the most, and maybe I'm part of your problem because I haven't watched your videos on YouTube since I subscribed. The Uncut versions really give me the behind-the-scenes patter between cuts that make me feel like I get to know you more as people. The editing and packaging of episodes is not at all important to me (I do enjoy James' musical montages, though! :->) Please consider bringing Uncut episodes back in the future. And more Tilly, please! :-> Her wry humour + warmth + never being sure if she has listened to the rules = fabulously entertaining chaos!

Chris Jull

Yes please 🙏 I second this! That music instantly lifts my mood!

Requiempress

So... on the lower tier, you're charging $1.50 more for what equates to two fewer exclusive videos a month when King's Dilemma ends? That doesn't seem very fair to me. BotC is great but $6.50 a month for one episode just seems very steep. I want to support the channel, but I strongly suggest you find something to replace the loss of monthly BGC for the low tier, especially with the ending of KD.

David Rickerby

As long as botc is coming monthly $6.50 is well worth it

Doug etue

Considering all the NRB crew are still friends with Adam, I don't think they would appreciate you calling him a creep lol

eclipse

Realistically, I'm someone who subscribes to Patreon solely to support the channel as opposed to for the benefits (which I enjoy but didn't join just for access) so I'm okay if it's not a Patreon exlcusive. I'm okay if it also involves still watching ads etc. I'd just like to see the shenanigans should they occur lol

Lindsay M.H.

It just so happens that this price increase has come at a time where I'll be making a little more money for the foreseeable future. I'm definitely gonna stay on board at the $6.50 tier for BOTC, but I've really enjoyed the kings dilemma series so I might even take the opportunity to go up a their for the next legacy game - especially if the online board game clubs are gonna start being filmed in the studio. I've been in love with this channel for a few years now and I'm more than happy to keep supporting you!

Ash

I fully understand where they changes are coming from, but paying 11,50€ for a single BotC video and a single Legacy upload a month is BAD. You can get a streaming service for a month for that price versus two videos uploaded in here.

Omenamies

right, who's starting the excel document to keep track of the JPM (jokes per minute) data (joking, if that wasn't clear lmao)

Matilda Renman

I think this is a great compromise - I rarely watch uncut episodes unless I've heard talk of gold in there, but would love random extra vids if there's anything particularly golden in them. Even if it's just a minute or few minutes, hell, a youtube short would be fine by me. It would let NRB get some extra mileage out of cut content, but only when it's "warranted", so it won't divide the audience. If it's a public video, I agree it would likely help with algorithm stuff, and if it's patreon-exclusive, it could help draw more people in. Of course, you'd have to measure that against the cost of editing them, which I believe only NRB themselves would know if the numbers work out or not!

Matilda Renman

If uncut is leaving then I will have to rethink being a patreon. Uncut is one of the main things I subscribe to this patreon for. The cut versions are just not as good

Nicholas Ball

Stay on boooooooard~!

TAP Giles

So would I, in Adam I trust.

Réka Kristó

I only watch the uncut, I know its not as popular but I like the longer content.

Sockpuppet Mogwai

Dom flipped me off!!! Take my money!!! Wait................. Perhaps I should see a professional about that reaction?

ContrabandDonut

np I'll support you guys til the heat death of the universe

Xavexgoem

Pay a bit more to keep getting video's I love and more legacy content down the road? Sold! Keep up the great work and thank you for the transparency.

Allison Glass

I understand what you are saying on a gut level but to counter that I compare it to the old TableTop videos. If you look at how much those cost to make and the rate they were produced then NRB has to be considered efficient in comparison.

Resolute

Does the channel actually have the direct ability to change the subscription amount that people pay? When I signed up for Patreon I am quite sure that it literally allows you to pick how much you were paying regardless of what the creators call their tiers.

Resolute

Always happy to support you guys, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the Patreon only board game club can we keep the retro intro used in the Zoom online era :D

Nathan Kelly

Everyone that you see in the video need to be paid, and then there are a lot of people off camera that also work on the videos. Not to mention renting the studio and utilities. It’s a company where people work so they need a workable salary. It’s not a hobby where shitty pay is okay. Compare your costs/waiges three years ago and today and tell me that’s not increased a lot in that time. That combined with the declining ad revenue makes it very likely to me that they needed to increase the prices a little bit.

Sabine

I really want to believe that NRB needs the extra support, but something doesn't add up for me. If 10 videos a month costs this much money...where is all this money going? Editing 10 videos playing board games should really not cost this much money. If it did cost this much, nobody would be making board game videos.

Travis S.

I'm cancelling not because of the price increase, but because I haven't been near as into the channel since Adam left. He was the most entertaining cast member to me (with some others not far behind), and his chemistry with Sullivan in particular was one of the main draws of the channel for me. The price increase just made me realize that I haven't watched any Patreon exclusive content (or even the public content really) in many months so it was time to cancel for now. Adam being brought back would totally change that for me. (and if it isn't obvious, for the record, I think he's innocent of any serious wrong doing and think it's a shame that he lost his job due to very vague comments from an ex and completely unfounded rumors)

Funk

even though Adam is innocent from some ugly person... people may not believe it.. personally i would want Adam back but am still going to support

Fernando

Sadly the D&D kickstarter showed what level the chaotic neutral support is at.

Andrew Farmer

This won't result in a change for me, but I am glad that another Legacy game will be coming. I also rarely watch the Uncut games so no worries there either, but would always be glad to get any bonus outtakes/bloopers whenever you know there's some hidden gold in the episodes - either publicly with ads to get the adsense money or here as part of a benefit.

Lindsay M.H.

appreciate the transparency and the breakdown of the new levels. def interested in moving back up to mid-tier for more Legacy and some exclusive games, although i'd like to see what Legacy game you end up going with. hope it gives you the opportunity to run some games you feel may not do exceptionally well on the public side but the group enjoys.

monkey

Yep, same with so many globally recognised platform providers. Ticketmaster, booking, com etc all fall in the same category of not being particularly beneficial to the suppliers/ creators/hosts that are needed to make the platform possible but as there's no real competitor or alternative everyone feels the need to be on them and it's the consumer's first point of call to find the service.

Andrew Farmer

I'm pretty sure 'are you evil?' Got replaced with unboxed in 2023 and unboxed for discontinued earlier this year. Would love a return of are you evil? now there are so many new faces on the channel

Andrew Farmer

Happy to upgrade for an extra in person BGC! Excited to see what legacy game is on the horizon. Any news on BOTC live series 3 or the next lord of the board tournament?

Andrew Farmer

Oh no! One less crisp packet a month to continue my support of amazing content! whatever shall I do! Keep up the good work, you're worth every bit and more.

Kasper Sørensen

Yeah this is how I feel about it. The spread of content between the tiers just feels completely imbalanced now.

Regy Rusty

While I definitely understand and respect the necessity for this, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that so much is moving into the $11.50 tier. I don't think I can afford to more than double my pledge for the same amount of content that I'm getting for $5 now. I want to support you guys but I can't go that high and that makes me sad. :(

Regy Rusty

Mate, you provide so much quality content, a chocolate bar's worth of upgrade per month is more than worth it.

Reynard Wrecca

Understood and completely reasonable. Also appreciate the transparency - have upgraded to the $11.50 tier, I don't really watch any other channel at all, anyway. Keep up the awesome work!

Steffan from New Zealand

It's all good. Still a very low price for so much entertainment every month. But I WILL be expecting the new tier price to come with at least 10% more bits and in-jokes. That's only fair. :)

Adam Gough (greasykid1)

All of this is completely reasonable and makes sense, though I really wish you would reconsider removing the uncut videos or at least offer them in the higher tier. I really love having the behind the scenes insights and side conversations, and it helps make it feel like we're all in a more exclusive club.

Tim Goodrich

It is unfortunate that the uncut episodes impact the performance of the YouTube version so much as they were the main reason for my subscription. I wonder if it's at all feasible providing them on delay to Patreon subscribers (since I assume us die hards on here would happily watch an episode twice) as a way of boosting the value here. A sort of 'from the vault' experience.

Kristen Osborne

Will you be announcing what the next Legacy game will any time soon? Will influence whether I upgrade or not.

Beowulf Kadmus

Result Cheers for the assistance matey

richard suter

I appreciate the honesty about the financial situation. I guess I'll be moving to the $11.50 tier, since BOTC episodes aren't of much interest to me, but I want to support the channel. My only demand in return (well, ok, not a demand) is that true Lord of the Board Jon gets a fair shot at winning back his crown!

Paul Thomson

Sorry to hear that. Joined for BotC but have really enjoyed King's Dilemma. Will upgrade when that finishes. Personally not too interested in the games you play online, find it difficult to keep track of what is going on, so they often seem a bit flat without the interactions.

Anonymous Geoff

I'll remain on board, BUT! I will require a corresponding goof increase of at least 3%. If my detailed and proprietary analysis of goofs-per-minute (GPM) shows anything short of that, you shall hear from my lawyer.

BLB

the old $11.50 tier

Harry Bond

I always wondered if the uncut videos affected the public videos. Now I know it does and I am sad that they are going away. I will keep supporting for the near future as long as I can.

Ted

So ...I'm a little UK boy My amount has moved to £8.87 I'm lazy and can't be bothered to work out the exchange rate ...what level am I at

richard suter

I think he's a creep and even if you completely buy his side of the story, his behaviour was appalling

Alan Wilkinson

Woah the tier names changed! I guess I have to upgrade now to continue being a NeRB (No offense, piglets!)

Kori

The funny thing is I use an ad blocker browse too, but I can still 100% agree with the fact that it sucks because not every pop-up that gets blocked is an ad, g-dangit. It does suck that I have to still have a second browser to pay via PayPal, for example, instead of just being able to use the ad blocker browser for everything

Micah Newby

My big issue with this change is that as I subscribe only for the legacy game, going up to 11$ a month for just one hour of content is not feasible. I will likely cancel and subscribe the occasional month to catch up, but not stay subscribed.

Andreas Tarandi

Just one month! Board Game Club will return at the start of February.

No Rolls Barred

Don't worry 'bout it. Inflation happens and YT/Google aren't known for being a platform for a career without either supplements via Streaming or Patreon, or both. And since it's a bunch of people, I getcha, I don't even think twice when supporting you. Going to make sure I'm in the $30 as soon as I get paid if I'm not there already. Edit: just checked, I'm not, so... gonna upgrade to that $30 tier once I get my money later this week.

Michelle Hollamon

I will definitely upgrade to the 11.50 tier. Even though i only watch around 50 % of your content I still want to support you.

Daniel Linder

I agree, Scott. My question was directed at Alan.

Jeremy Schultz

I like the new offering and will upgrade to the $11+. I originally subscribed to sustain the channel even if I did not receive extra content. Nevertheless, I prefer getting quality content over quantity, which the new offering provides. I wish the best of luck and great success for years to come

Mohammed Al-Nughaimesh

How long will the season break be?

Mailenheim

Understood! I appreciate you guys for everything you do.

Jeremy Schultz

I'm not thrilled by the price increase, nor the fact that I'll have to upgrade if I want to watch (in a timely fashion at least) whatever legacy game you next play. That said, I completely understsand it, and I'm actually in a decent financial position. I've ended my Amazon Prime Membership and my subscription to the Washington Post, so I've got some money to spare for once. Once I know what legacy game you are playing next, I might up my subscription. For once, I could afford to do it. Came for the Blood on the Clocktower, stayed for the boardgames and the cast. Keep on doing what you do.

John

Three reasons. First, Adam sometimes goes off like a deranged coyote who found the stash of caffeine-infused peyote, and I love that. Second, he's genuinely good at what he does, and shows a lot of love in the videos. You can tell he cares about what he's doing. Some of the other regulars (no names) seem to just be going through the motions. Third, the fact that Carley (sorry, "X") can tell some serious lies about someone because she's butthurt about a soured relationship isn't right, and it needs to be corrected. The fact that she hasn't been on NRB since her "I won't work with you until you fire Adam" rant leads me to believe I'm not the only one who thinks she's toxic. But, I may be wrong about that. Time will tell.

Scott Sprague

Why? You of course have every right to, and I wouldn’t try changing your mind, I’m just generally curious.

Jeremy Schultz

I would double mine to make up for you. :)

Scott Sprague

It doesn’t really feel like a $1.50 increase when we have to upgrade to the $11.50 tier just to get what we had for $5

Zachary Peters

I would cancel my patreon pledge if Adam came back

Alan Wilkinson

I’m feeling exactly the same. If people have the extra money and this helps them keep the YouTube channel running, that’s great, but I can’t keep subscribing to the Patreon with so little content left at the base tier

Zachary Peters

Agreed. As soon as I see a 2.5h BotC video, I get excited, and then it turns out that they just talked and stretched one day for 45 min. It would be much better to have two games in there, with faster days and more action, than one game with filler talking for 2.5 hours.

Emir Samardzic

Hey! NRB got me through the pandemic along with the rest of WT/PFK content. I am here for the price increase and I love your content,

anne

Agreed. $70 a year for one video a month is a bit pricey. Once king's dilemma is over I'm out. With the exchange rates being what they are these days all my subscriptions are adding up 😕

Alexander Berg

Very good point, I agree with this. I would add that a lot of the games lately on patreon have not gone the distance, where games end either early, or very anticlimacticly. Obvious hard to make that sort of content, but many of the clocktower games they have produced have. I feel the patreon videos are edited as if they will go the distance, but it's actually just 2-3 days of people talking stretched over into 2+ hours.

Matthew Gebbett

This is where I’m at, I’ll stick through the end of Kings Dilemma but then I’m out.

Brian Smith

I still enjoy the content, but I think the point about BotC feeling less fresh and more perfunctory is a natural consequence of that being a tentpole for so long that they've played it dozens of times in videos, probably dozens more off-screen, so as a result they all become really good at the game, so will generally know what plays to make when. It's honestly impressive it's remained watchable as long as it has, which I think is inherent to Clocktower's design, with all the characters that can be switched around and interact with each other in different ways. It also means it's tough to have new people in those videos because unless they've played hundreds of games themselves, they might make rookie mistakes that core cast members wouldn't.

Ryan Winwood

I would understand if all you did was increase my subscription by $1.50, but I’m going from paying $5 a month for 3 videos to $6.50 a month for 1 video. Switching to the $11.50 a month tier just to keep getting all of the content I currently get is a bit of an unreasonable ask.

Zachary Peters

Totally fair! I enjoyed the talking heads a lot since it felt like it made each episode more of a story. I really am just trying to give my 2 cents on why the channel's growth has stunted a lot recently

Matthew Gebbett

Please, pretty please, with whipped cream and a cherry and, I don't know, anchovies for bad Dom or something on top, keep the nostalgia intro for our in-person exclusives going forward. In a world where literally everything is changing (and mostly in unpleasant ways), it's such a warm, fuzzy bit of comfort that as far as I can see would be so easy to keep For comparison, I can't overstate how much I appreciate the mothership keeping "Support WrestleTalk" even as the intro changed around it. Grateful to Pete for responding to my comment on who knows which news vid. Aside from reasons already mentioned, he made me feel seen both figuratively and, given its continued presence, meaningfully, at least in part. I'm quite aware I was one voice amongst a chorus; that fact actually increases my appreciation for feeling seen by Pete's comment. None of that's even directly related, but a truly wonderful feeling that I am NOT used to feeling doesn't happen if they don't keep that intro Holy crud, what literally started as a joke got heavier than I intended🤣 Please keep the intro. it's a little thing, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who anticipates the very act of hitting play because it's the first thing we're going to hear, setting the (pun 100% intended) tone for a lovely time with our lovely friends. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. I shall be happily remaining on board

Micah Newby

I agree about the gaming channel, especially in the choice of games. Most famous youtubers started by playing horror games, as they are interesting to watch and interesting to see the youtuber getting scared. They were on the right path with RE7. As for the Chaotic Neutral, I think it has enough traction, but they should also play more famous games like Alien RPG, Lord of the Rings RPG, Vaesen, continue with CoC and they should be fine. Maybe even do a short campaign for some of those games.

Emir Samardzic

True, but he did that purely on the account of what X told him about Z. I'm sure he learned his lesson and will not do it again. Especially since X is no longer involved with NRB.

Emir Samardzic

Personally I feel no guilt about using adblockers on channels I sub to on patreon but that's up to you.

Angus Noble

Personally I'm not going anywhere, but also I 100% agree with literally everything you said🤣

Micah Newby

I disagree with the BGC take. The talking heads in the old videos was my least favourite part of them, made the videos feel overacted. The new stuff feels more balanced. But that’s just a personal preference I suppose 🤷🏻‍♀️

Edith

It seems so...

Станислав Соболев

The uncut episodes were how I primarily watched those games because they were longer with more content and rules back and forth so you got more context on the game, as well being ad free because YT adds are terrible. It makes me sad those will leave. I understand this decision but I hope they realize this will also make people change their pledges. Good luck NRB!

Dave4Primarch

To be honest, I originally joined for the uncut episodes. But NRB is my favorite channel *by far*. This modest price increase makes sense, thank you all for the transparency. I hope 2025 proves to be a better year! Also, heartfelt Dom was much scarier than bad cop Dom.

Coryn

I'm sad to lose Zoom BGC! I love seeing people who can't get to the studio playing with you guys. You're fantastic, but so is your extended family of players. Plus you guys are less polished in the Zoom eps and it's more fun. (Will still support, obviously, because y'all are the best thing on YouTube)

Kori

I'll miss the uncut episodes a lot, but the other additions to the tier I think should make up for them! I just hope the previous uncut episodes aren't taken off of this, as I love seeing the bits behind the scenes.

rojowo

There have been more updates, more of his side/details given, and it looks like he may not be as thoroughly guilty this time around...that being said it was absolutely correct for him to be removed from the channel because, by Adam's own words, he was inappropriate/abusing his position when it came to who got to appear on the channel.

Matthew Shaw-Thomas

Ah well, I might as well upgrade a tier now so I don't forget and start missing the next legacy series 🤷 ❤️

Matthew Shaw-Thomas

❤️

Sean Dunne

All understandable, but sad because I had joined mainly for the uncut bgc episodes.

TheTimCaucus

I am also a compulsive rewatcher of earlier BotC videos, agree the more recent ones feel perfunctory in comparison.

MZA

Genuinely gutted to lose the uncut videos, they were the biggest single benefit in my view as I hate the talking heads and advert segments in the public videos. Can't argue with the financial reasons behind the cut, just annoyed that there's no other way. I will be continuing to support via Patreon, but I would like to see some more focus on the BotC stuff that helped make the channel; the recent online episodes have been quite lacklustre. I'm also tired of the "Monopoly but..." videos but I guess they must be working or you woudn't keep churning them out. I know the Communopoly one that started it all was hugely successful, but it feels very 'diminishing returns' at this point. Speaking as only one viewer anyway, if it's making you serious bank then obviously keep going! I've been loving the Chaotic Neutral stuff too, not sure where the DnD campaign stands after the latest kickstarter failed to fund though? I'll echo the sentiment above that, once any outstanding legal issues/concerns have been resolved, it would be great to see Adam back (assuming good faith on the part of the recent couple of videos).

MZA

Bring back Adam and Angela and your views may increase.

Scott Sprague

Seems really fair and reasonable here. Will miss the uncut episodes but loving the move to in-studio episodes for the extra episode! Seasonal plans makes perfect sense given the numbers of videos you all make, you need down time for renovation and rejuvenation. Looking forward to the new content and super happy to support at the ever so slightly increased prices.

Richard Hicks

While YouTube is a tough environment to make money, I feel like the channel has made some poor business decisions as well this past year. Launching the gaming channel into a very oversaturated market, seemingly pumping money into chaotic neutral with little return and interest, and changing the formula of BGCs. The channel used to make in several hundred thousand views on house rules, some even in the millions, as well as over 100k views on BGC -- sometimes up to 500k (which isn't seen in the monopoly but's nowadays). BGC can barely break 100k these days. House rules also is struggling to break 100k views which is wild considering it is the primary reason people i know found the channel. I find myself watching older BGCs significantly more than the newer ones. My take on it is that everyone feels that they are over acting and trying to all be super positive about everything that happens, rather than just being themselves. Hell Laurie put 100/100 on bring grumpy in fun facts and now feels like he is always positive in games. Who's to say what it is exactly but that's just my take. BOTC almost feel like it's been thrown on the back burner completely despite being a major reason for the channels success. I know we get the videos once a month now, but the quality has dropped significantly. I will happily watch some of the older videos over and over, the newer ones I sometimes don't event finish the video. I am going to keep supporting, but NRB remember what got you here, a group of people who produced entertaining board game videos where it felt like a group of friends genuinely trying to win the game, entertain and be themselves.

Matthew Gebbett

It always sucks to lose stuff, but times are tough all around and I'm happy to help out, you lot have been a very comforting presence in my life for a while now. Very happy we get an extra in-person BGC a month, as I was having more issues maintaining interest in the virtual ones.

Simfers

Aww I loved uncut episodes and the main reason I was at the 10$ tier, but totally understand the reasoning behind it and will keep the $11.50. Hope it works out!

Kunal Tolani

my only issue with this video is that the close-ups of Dom give me the urge to take off and clean his glasses for him

Hannah

Oh dear, is dom gonna have to go down from one bucket of caviar a day?

Erik

Please take a little note of my money if that means you guys will be better able to continue what you do. Thanks for leveling with us!

Luke Bentley

This really shows how bad youtube, ads and algorithms are for supporting creators. Glad that there are alternative revenue streams like patreon and I am happy to support!

Yannik Finger

No worries I think most patrons will stick around just cause we like everyone so much.

Jordan Goodwin

I agree. Hopefully he is able to come back full time.

Jordan Goodwin

I’m new around here, so this matters less, but all of this is COMPLETELY understandable. I hope you guys are doing good :)

GayandMorallyGrey

There were some updates to the story over the last couple of months, see Adam's and Angela's channels for the full updates, but at it seems that the allegations from last year were likely either completely unfounded, or at the very most a wild exaggeration of the truth in response to a petty slight.

Phil D

I think most this stuff makes sense, I'm happy to pay a little bit more to help keep it this channel and lovely people going. The only real disappointment for me is uncut BGC, that's definitely the patreon benefit I use the most personally.

Joe Donovan

I love you guys and everything that you do, a bump in price given current market conditions is entirely justified.

Dean Carruthers

Shame to be losing the uncut BGCs, they were the main highlight of my subscription along with BOTC (not so much into the King's Dilemma type stuff), but will keep my $11.50 because you continue to be my favourite people on YouTube and the changes are completely understandable. Looking forward to what's coming in the future.

Dylan Gibbs

Hey gang, thanks for the update - actually hearing about what's on offer I'm going to upgrade next month to the £10 tier. Hope things improve financially because you're all great and I get a lot of value from my membership!

Nav

Honestly, considering the prices in the UK right now the increase is more than reasonable. And the removal of the uncut videos makes sense, numbers and workload-wise. Happy to keep supporting you guys in any way I can 🙂‍↕️

Edith

I understand the price increases, a little unfortunate to be loosing my online bgc at the lowest tier, might consider going back to the £10 tier if you release info on what legacy will be played next. Good luck, am sure some people will go and some wwill go up a tier. Hope you have planned this to help you guys out

Bob Thompson

So does this mean the 6.50 tier will lose the monthly zoom BGC and legacy game, and all we'll get is a monthly BOTC?

Behind The Hideaway

I will stay a supporter here on patreon. I do wish youtube could support it's creators without these hoop jumping.

Anton Mohlin

As one of the mugs who are signed up through the iOS Patreon app, will this increase count as a new subscription? Might unsubscribe and re-sign through the website just to be safe

Adam Knight

With the cost of everything, these days, it seems a reasonable increase. Still getting way more entertainment from you folks than most streaming services these days. I will miss the uncut episode - particularly enjoyed watching Jon lose it on the public video and anticipating how much more there would be in the uncut version! Take your point about them splitting your views though.

Roger

Is the podcast dead?

Leigh Phillips

Totally understandable that there's a need for an increase in the prices. Excited for the new legacy game!

Karina Pepe

So no more monthly online BGC at any tier, but now a monthly in-person BGC at the $11.50 tier?

Christian Bennett

Fantastic content, lovely team and at a cost-per-minute-watched level, this is cheaper than the big streaming giants so absolutely worth it for the price of like… 20 Fredos 🐷

Sam Coleman

If you look at the latest updates it doesn't seem very clear cut. "X" has yet to come forth with actual tangible evidence while Adams representative has. I recommend watching both Adams update about it and Angelas.

Anton Mohlin

Thank you being transparent transparent about it. For the little it is worth, I upgraded my membership - keep up the good work!

Lauge R

You have my continued support for as long as I’m able. I enjoyed the Uncut episodes but I also realized they may be eating into the public videos so I watched both most of the time. Excited for the extra BGC and Legacy game content in the coming months. It just isn’t a Tuesday without NRB!

Rebecca Owen

Totally reasonable, especially with the 2 dollar inclusion to offer more options. I wish you the best of luck.

Szkudlarski Joris

Adam is radioactive, isn't he? The whole inappropriate behaviour stuff, twice?

Szkudlarski Joris

Upping my membership to the 10/11.50 there because you were up front about this. Use to be 5. Thanks for being honest.

Daniel Purser

Love everything you guys do so happy to pay a little extra

Colin

Truth be told, never watched the uncut BGC videos, myself, so no harm done. And an extra $5/month increase? More than willing to chip in; of all the channels I subscribe to, this one is consistently the most fun and entertaining, and glad to do what little I can to keep it going. Hope things balance out for you all, and happy gaming, NeRBs!

Matthew Zahnzinger

You'll have me as patron for as long as you do botc I look forward to it every month. Might be able to stretch to the higher tier if its a legacy game I would enjoy. Let's wait and see!

ItzSmashley

So the prices go up and the content goes down. Personally I'd be happy to pay slightly more and keep the uncut episodes

Adam Roszkowski

To be honest I didn't tend to watch the Uncut versions because I wanted you to get the public Youtube numbers, so this is fine with me. Really hope things start looking up for you all!!!! ♥

Emily Hogarth

Hi guys what are the new prices in £ sterling?

Damian Clark

Not only am I staying on board I’m going up a tier. Keep up the good work guys 💛

Morgan Read

Thanks for the update! Loving whatever clocktower content you're uploading though.

Forgotten user id

More than happy to stay on board guys. Appreciate you being up front about this

Daniel Mumby

I love the Uncut episodes because I loathe YT's ads, but am happy for that to go if the new pricing structure will help out. The transparency is greatly appreciated.

Samantha Gilmore

Well I think we know what the next charity livestream can be ;)

Lee Dellbridge

Thanks for being understanding!

No Rolls Barred

Thank you!

No Rolls Barred

Our usual venue is unavailable for the foreseeable future, so there's no update on this right now!

No Rolls Barred

Thank you Hannah!

No Rolls Barred

The problem with Can't Stop, though, is that... we can't stop.

No Rolls Barred

I will still keep supporting you, of course. Maybe try to bring back Adam, at least for one episode, it will spike the viewership a lot, considering his modest return to YT had a very positive feedback from people. Also, I think the next Legacy game is either Pandemic Legacy or Betrayal at House on the Hill Legacy. However, I would like to see some "heavier" campaign games, like ISS Vanguard or Etherfields.

Emir Samardzic

We appreciate your appreciation of the transparency and explanation.

No Rolls Barred

Thanks for being so understanding!

No Rolls Barred

Thanks Tobias!

No Rolls Barred

Thank you so much!

No Rolls Barred

I'll be sad to see the uncut episodes go, they were my favourite part. But if it's hurting the channel, then that's fair enough. Maybe it would be possible to keep a bit more in the non patron video? I'm very happy to keep supporting, the work you put in to entertain us is well worth it

FyreAndAsh

Hey! We've had monthly episodes of BOTC since February - you can watch all of them in this collection: https://www.patreon.com/collection/120652?view=expanded

No Rolls Barred

If this rise helps the channel and Chaotic Neutral then I'm in!!

WoWoWooders

Hey gang, any possible update on a Third In-Person BOTC Kickstarter?

Forgotten user id

I'm not sure what you mean. There's been patreon blood on the clocktower videos every month since February.

Angus Noble

Definitely still worth the rise, as long as you’re still able to keep the content coming!

Hannah Withey

Yeah I had noticed far less content on the gaming channel and the RPG one. I understand. It's a shame about the uncut going as I enjoyed watching them but in person exclusives I do prefer to zoom. Just promise you will do Can't Stop one time!

Lee Dellbridge

Looks like I’ll have to upgrade as soon as I have more money

Jay ❕they-them❕

civilcalc .

I appreciate the transparency and explanation.

Garrett Nyx

Aw, sad to see the Uncut episodes go, they were the thing I mainly liked about the Patreon. But I will continue to support you guys and good luck in what comes next <3

Endija

As long as it helps you continue, I'll happily do my part

Tobias Wallbaum

Happy to up my contribution- considering how much enjoyment I get per month it’s worth it. Thanks for all your efforts!

Jess Power

God, YouTube is shit, ain't it.
