I´m super excited about the first houdini tutorial mini series here on my patreon, especially for true Houdini Beginners like me! Let´s follow along with guest artist and Houdini expert Welsing3D https://www.instagram.com/welsing3d/ in this exciting course about viscous fluid smear simulations! I´m just super excited that this series starts and I will definitely fire up Houdini at the weekend and learn something new!
Disclaimer: Friends, don´t worry;-P. I absolutely love Cinema 4D, I just want to spice things up a bit now and then! LiquiGen, EmberGen, Houdini, X-Particles... It´s always good to have an understanding of other tools and know the strenghts and weaknesses of your tools. But let´s see when Maxon comes with Fluids around the corner!
For your information: This houdini mini-series will (most probably) be divided into 4 parts: 1. Basics, 2. Brush/Collider, 3. Simulation/Meshing and 4. Bubbles. And Part 02 will follow already next week!
In combination with Philipps upcoming lessons, I´m starting my new tutorial mini-series about super-complex cloth simulations with Cinema 4D also this weekend;-).
So... good and versatile quality content is ahead, my friends!

2025-04-12 06:40:00 +0000 UTCIMPORTANT note: To be able to see the simulation result, the fluid mesh as well as the bubbles - as a first thing, find the three "filecache" nodes in the setup (beige, with a harddisk symbol on them). Select each, choose a save folder and a file name ending with: _$F5.bgeo.sc For example: D:/CACHES/sim_$F5.bgeo.sc Then press "Save to Disk" and let Houdini do the work. :) After all three caches have been completed (simulation cache, meshing cache and bubble cache), you are good to go! Feel free to ask questions here, if you get stuck.

Thanks. 200 for two years is great actually, I thought it was way steeper than that. With c4d and x-particles, and liquigen or whatever else its prob the same amount. I just wonder what the true pros and cons are of each. I love c4d I’ve been going hard for about 6 months, coming from a compositing background and I absolutely love it. Do you like it?

2025-03-27 19:39:04 +0000 UTCThe free one is called Apprentice. It has minor limitations. The most popular paid one is Indie. That one is the full version, no limitations and is 200 dollars for two years. Which is pretty amazing for the full software. Cheers! :)

Which one are you using? There’s a free version that says something about watermarks, which is insane id rather never work in 3D again, then there’s like 10 different paid versions?
