BOTC Behind-The-Scenes + Patreon Update

As you’ve no doubt noticed, the countdown to our brand new series of in-person Blood on the Clocktower is over as our first episode ‘A Stab In The Dark’ went live over the weekend! In honour of the new series beginning we wanted to take you behind the scenes of the biggest shoot No Rolls Barred has ever undertaken. We had the pleasure of having the fantastic James Evans-Jones along for the shoot to stick his camera all up in the business of everyone on set and he’s churned out a wonderful behind-the-scenes video for your viewing pleasure.
In other news you’re probably wondering what’s going on with some of your regular Patreon content: exclusive BGC, BOTC and King’s Dilemma. Well, worry not, as they’ll all be coming to you this week - with Clocktower taking a full week of everyone’s time and people having time off to rest afterwards our filming/editing schedule has seen a knock on, hence the bumper week of content. Here’s a breakdown:
Tuesday 26th: Not Alone UNCUT (you already have this, hooray!)
Wednesday 27th: BOTC BTS (that’s this post, you’re reading it, crazy?!)
Thursday 28th: Patreon Exclusive BGC
Friday 29th: King’s Dilemma Episode 7
Sunday 31st: Patreon BOTC
You’re probably wondering where the Unboxed Podcast is in that mix and what happened to the Patreon BGC poll. After much deliberation we’ve made the decision to cancel the Unboxed Podcast and going forward we will no longer be polling for which game to play in Patreon Exclusive BGCs. In the case of Unboxed it simply didn’t have the uptake amongst the community for us to continue doing it, and we really want to focus on making our video output the best in the business so that extra time and energy will go into that. As for the polls, they tended to be dominated by one or two really popular games, so hopefully by removing the polls we’ll get to show you more of the plethora of games out there.
Starting with this month’s exclusive Board Game Club, which was not only filmed in-person, but features Disney Lorcana: the brand new trading card game from Ravensburger. We gathered a group of Illumineers to duke it out to become the lord of the Lore.

I don’t think all the people complaining about not having enough in-person Clocktower understand how much work and money really went into it. Entitled viewers assume content is easy, but this video could really help people understand the incredible production these in-person games were. Food for thought- consider putting this out in some form. Certainly if there’s another crowdfunding run for in-person BOTC, this video should definitely be part of selling it. If I wasn’t already a patron, I would be after seeing this!

I kinda decided after watching close to 100 hours of NRB content, if not more that it was worth taking a punt at seeing what was on the Patreon. The UNCUT BGC games were nice but seeing stuff like this, the monthly BGC game and the other bits and bobs like this have ensured I haven't regretted handing over my money.

2024-03-27 19:35:41 +0000 UTCAs an unneeded suggestion - I for one would love the occasional podcast in the original “Are You Evil?” format for new cast members as they join and others who have been here but never got an episode! I loved hearing a bit of everyone’s personal journeys through life and the unique perspectives they each brought. I’m particularly dying for an episode with Dan and one with Tegan. Not as a required monthly production from NRB, but just as a, “Hey, we had some time; here’s a special little treat to get to know this person better!”

Lorcana isn't my thing but it's most likely going to have Blair and Holly involved so I'll watch for that lol. As for the podcast I admit I haven't listened to it in months simply for time reasons but I assumed it would have had enough questions from discord like the Are You Evil? series did.

Would love to know the BTS on game selection e.g this is Teri's fav game, this is a new launch and we just really wanted to play it, we love the card art on this game etc.

I know I've heard people talk about liking games that have been on those polls and not won. Making it, "this month Blair picked a game for us" sounds good to me. Plus it would make it a surprise, and who doesn’t like a surprise? Would taking Unboxed from behind the paywall make it a viable product? I'd have no problem with it no longer being a Patreon exclusive if it made it make more sense from a business perspective.
