Modelling Tools for Superfast Design Iterations (to make your Clients happy) Part 01

Friends,

finally its content sharing time here on patreon! And hey, I know, I know... you might say/think: Markus, this is boring stuff man! I don´t need that kind of tools in my skillset. But just trust me that I use these "boring" tools on a daily basis when I design for clients.

In this first lesson I focus on spline-based modelling but I actually in part 02 we combine it. with volume builder/mesher modelling which I absolutely love.

Just take my word that at least in my experience with clients you are way more versatile/powerful if you are able to actually also create stuff and not just rely on an expert modelling artist in the pipeline. Also knowing your design tools well can separate you from the average artist who always needs to rely on pre-made asset.

Anyway! Sorry if this knowledge is a bit less "exciting" but I just lately used all those tools in my projects and I thought: Markus, tell your patrons that these basic tools are important to understand/master.

See you soon and have a nice weekend everyone!

Markus

Thanks for the share, definitely some interesting shapes. Give these plugins a download, they'll increase the speed in which you're able to create and iterate on these types of spline-based designs immensely. https://github.com/kentbarber/Chamfergen -> With this you're able to use multiple Chamfergens on a single object to control different amounts of chamfers per selection groups https://cineversity.maxon.net/en/tutorials/cvsplines_install -> CV Outline is the one of this group I find myself using most often https://creativedevelopment.gumroad.com/l/SplinesMask -> A better version of C4D's Spline Mask generator https://rocketlasso.gumroad.com/l/utilitysplines-from-rocketlasso?layout=profile -> All of these are incredibly useful, depending on what you're needing to do with your generated splines. I find the Cleanup and Resample modes to be the ones I utilize most often. Hope these resources help your workflow. Thanks for all you share with the community!
