2022-03-02 13:32:44 +0000 UTCYou think if Lovecraft knew that the Anglo-Saxon people he purported to love/admire would be using phrases like "squid diddlers" to describe his work in 100 years, it would've made him less or more racist? Dom and Laurie are both correct: Cthulhu is meant to be an unpronounceable word, combining "sh" and "kh" sounds in a way that the human mouth can't, and Lovecraft was born with syphilis, passed to his mother from his philandering father, and likely WAS quite mad by the time he'd begun writing.
