I know this comment is two years old, but it still rings true for BOTC episodes today. I know that the evil team needs to get information, so going beyond day 2 would be risky. However, a lot of first interactions are evil team getting together.

I know it's random, but given the disparity in experience levels, I feel like I would have re-randomized that one so as to not put all the pressure on Elliot there. They also appear to be a terrible liar... so... I dunno. I don't want to be mean but maybe this isn't the game for them.

2025-03-28 18:46:34 +0000 UTCI'm just now (finally) watching the backlog of Patreon BotC, even though I've been a member for 18 months. Elliott might have been new, but they clearly weren't ready for this. As a Demon they really should have looked up the powers that they bluffing, what they would be willing to tell about their powers, and who they had used them on. They were bluffing innkeeper. They shold have decided whether or not they, as an innkeeper, would be willing to tell people they were the innkeeper, and they should have had in their mind who they were protecting. After fumbling their entire conversation with Carley, I think she could have nominated them purely on vibes without any corroborating evidence. With corroborating evidence, evil was doomed. Not purely because of Elliott. Carley is really, really good at this game. But Elliott was clearly not prepared, and they didn't know the rules for the roles on the script. I don't know how much time they had to learn the script, but... yeah, I dunno.... It wasn't a good job by Elliott for whatever reason, whether inexperience, lack of skill, or something else. Thing is, Jon has hard time with the rules sometimes, he often needs them explained more than once, but he does fine in the games he's in. So maybe Elliott just needs more experience.... I can't remember if they've been in any of the recent episodes, but I hope this was just an inexperienced player being absolutely wailed on by a superior one.

2025-03-17 14:08:38 +0000 UTCWatching this over again, I don't think Elliot did that bad at all. If he was able to kill Carley before being drunk, that would have really helped. Also, Laurie making him drunk was just the end right there, and it would have been hard for even an experienced player to come back from that.

2024-02-18 22:53:42 +0000 UTCOn the average Courtier script there is at least 3-4 possible demons, if there is a Courtier on the script as the demon you have to be making everyone think it's some other kind of demon: * If you are a Po charge if there is no nomination and blame it on it being a Zombuul game before you tear through half the good team and probably kill the Courtier anyway. * If you are the Pukka you want to be pushing for everyone info having no problem so people think it's a Po or whatever other one kill a night demon exists. * Etc. If the Courtier works out which demon you are Good basically wins the game it's impossible to come back from that and rightly so.

People complain that he didn't read the roll and had to look up everything; in the very next episode literally EVERYONE did that. It was a new script, it's gonna happen. People also claim that they tried to talk to their demon right away, while Adam did the exact same thing 2 episodes ago. This is Patreon, I thought you guys would be better than this.

2022-09-05 15:15:48 +0000 UTCI still think Courtier should be nerfed in a way. Three nights and three days is way too long. Most games, it's half, or more than half of the game that someone is drunk. Also, these guys are insanely good at guessing which demon is in play, so if Courtier is not killed day one or two the latest, it's game over for sure.

And the second Carly said "and look who's talking" and it cut to Elliot and Adam talking I was like oh this is over haha. But Laurie with that courtier play was a great shout.

Kinda like getting the right answer the wrong way back in school. So from a viewer a bit frustrating but, enjoyable as hell anyway

Also maybe Elliott could have tried arguing that there was nothing to confirm Angela and this late in the game she’s not nominating because she thinks someone is the demon but to test her ability; then again there was no real point because of Laurie

It was a rough setup to begin with when a tea lady ended up between two evils that obviously wouldn't want to be tested, Brook came out with her role very openly, bringing up questions why any demon would have targeted her if they acted the second night, leaving a clear drinking choice for the grandmother-confirmed courtier.

2021-11-03 06:26:38 +0000 UTCI dont think Carley need to be "nerfed" or even removed from the group, but off course playing an advanced script, with players that dont even know the roles, will favour the more experienced players. There is a reason why it is strongly recommeded to start with a few games of TB before switching it up. If you play regulary (or just watch experienced players like Ben), you will avoid rookie mistakes that were made through this whole playthrough (not preparing your "fake choices", or as an innkeeper not talking to people you protect to warn them about drunkeness etc) The deciding question, is what these games should be: Entertaining- very much, Advanced, well thought BotC games - not that much (but the BotC Channel has plenty of that) :)
