In here you can see a little bit of how self-centered Subaru can be, if you ever read the pride route you can see how it ended the way it did

It's also important to note what Julius said near the beginning of the fight, when he said people would usually be slain for such insolence. This is also expanded on in the novels a bit more. Although what Julius did was in part due to his own ego, it was merciful, as if he hadn't beat up Subaru in front of all the knights, Subaru was likely to have suffered a worse fate from someone else. So in a way, he kind of saved Subaru's ass in a twisted sort of way.

Also, the next episode is, in my opinion, one of the greatest episodes in anime. The storytelling, the camera shots, the voice acting, the music all hits so perfectly throughout the episode that when it reaches the climax it makes you feel like you have been run over by a train of emotions.
Also there is a after credits scene so don't miss it

Don't know if its because I'm too much into this anime, but I always feel so embarrassed every time I see ep 13, I feel like a parent watching his son making an ass out of himself in public and just want to take him to the back and smack that ass xD

I'm so glad you're getting the problem here. It's also very funny that you mentioned the other Isekai. Re:Zero is a stab at geek/anime culture, and it's meant to be a self reflection of everyone watching anime in general (mainly isekai). If you were in this story, the world would not revolve around you, the characters are not in need of a main character. Your thinking is flawed etc etc. Subaru is everyone watching your reaction, right now.
