TFS Q&A Session (🌲🍂)

Question: "Will there be angst with S if the MC isn't keen on the grandpa? I was going back through the first book and noticed S cares for the grandpa, it is different than J being polite about things?? R didn't seem to be around him as much."

Oh I'm eating this up like cookies. I agree that S seems to be too respectful of everyone around them to ever fully lean into an angsty direction (that is fueled by them) but I can totally see that from a MC who hasn't emotionally healed from what happened in the past. It'll be very interesting to see how S handles an MC like that while staying true to their own opinion of the grandfather. That sort of inherent balance in S is what always made them so attractive to me, they're understanding without betraying themselves.

Me 🤝 you! We're in strong agreement on this, especially considering one of the themes of S's romance is the grounding comfort and calm they'll offer to the MC through their sheer force of compassion. I'm glad that you're already sensing that connection and their communication which will deepen and grow as we move through the series; there's a certain stability with S. 💙 To have their dynamic with the romanced MC get caustic/cutting over this would be out-of-character; however, I (like S) do want to acknowledge how S's bond with the grandfather can cause some angst (heartache). It's internal and more on the MC's side than a true clash; this is something I find more compelling to write. During this choice, we'll see the MC think about how they don't want to needlessly hurt someone /like their grandfather did to them/ when trying to wrangle their reaction to spare S who was sharing something personal. This dynamic will be accounted for and be an interesting source of variation while keeping true to S and the MC! 😎 It means so much to me that you like to explore Fernweh with replays, Kay! 💚

I'm rather glad you're not going to allow things to get caustic between S and the MC, I feel like they communicate and connect too well to get to that point. And getting mad at S for befriending Grandpa seems misplaced (to me). But I will try some of the lightly angsty choices on my different runs, to see the tension and how it plays out.
