This post is going to spotlight: Milton Callaway, the first Fernweh born and bred (sorry @ baby Bambi) character your Returning Visitor encounters in Book One! I feel it's timed perfectly with our other post about additional character name meanings. He's an important character!
During the first book, Milton can provide a minor scare and lean into the horror hallmark of a small town cop coming upon the main character. Fortunately, he doesn't have that typical unsettling energy we see in most films/books, rather he's excited and impish about pulling a prank on someone new. His subsequent 'disappearance' also runs parallel with the book's plot of uncovering more is 'off' and 'amiss' about this seemingly idyllic forested town. π²

Yes! ππ§ I love that you noticed this link from that Book One variation where Mal recalls the melted cheese on their bike, smh. MCs who are romancing Mal get a different scene where they can remember this fact! (It can give them a minor advantage/awareness about Kyle's attitude.)

I'm glad you're excited for this! (I'm even more psyched that you have an array of injuries and dynamics with Milton since it can influence so many big and little things, depending on choices. π)

2024-03-10 13:53:30 +0000 UTCOh, I'm intrigued by how your mild suspicions about him have given way to some protectiveness! π There will be scenes between Milton and the MC that can help further refine/tailor this dynamic. Also, yeah, Kyle could use a trip (minor plummet) somewhere unpleasant. (They're the same kid from R's 'Dress to Impress' writing and Chellyense's comment below is correct about what Mal says in Book One.)

2024-02-29 21:47:59 +0000 UTCI'll throw hands with Kyle myself but also I'll stand back because seeing R do it will be glorious, I'm sure. Can't wait to see how it goes in different routes!!! (My Returning Visitors treat him very differently and I've gotten all 3 injury results so I'll keep my eyes peeled for every change!)
