The Returning Visitor's absence has thoroughly entrenched itself within TFS's narrative from the obvious staring they endure from the townsfolk to mentions about the grandfather putting up all of their family pictures to even subtler suggestions about other characters' behavior. There is a gamut of things that link back to the MC abruptly leaving. It's the catalyst for the overall plot while also being an event that shaped each of your characters. My intention is that it's more than a backstory for your MC by adding elements of cause-and-effect for you all to discover while reading! 🌲😎
It will never simply be: "Yeah, they had to leave Fernweh; it was a lil' traumatic, but moving on~"

choking and crying at R Verner checking the lost and found repeatedly for the water bottle. losing my mind at J Corvin becoming melancholy after the MC left. augh, I did forget S and the MC used to be neighbors, so they would have been there. they would have seen the house that the MC never got to see until their nightmares. I suppose too that Verner would have bought S's old house after they moved and demolished it. does S think about their childhood home and how things change but stay the same in Fernweh?
