Hmm, the townsfolk do enjoy the town square. I know the MC's introduction to it can make it seem rather ominous rather than a good place for a picnic or to take an evening stroll, lol. This area has greenspace, nice flower beds, great sightlines, and even shops that help to outline the space; plus, the obelisk and the looming, stately courthouse can make it feel a little special too.
Aside from that, the town does have seasonal events. Depending on who you ask, you'll hear that the community is pretty close-knit, so think of a haunted hayride or spring garden showcase.

I feel like Fernweh's natural eeriness makes all the Halloween events that much more intense, lol. 😁
