Underneath and through the grinding ice, brave adventurers trek to world of frozen caverns. Creaks of the moving glaciers above resound like thunder. The slight trickles of melt water glisten off the blue walls. Bone chilling cold brings an added layer of loneliness to the area. In the distance, shadows and darts of light play off the walls. Something moves within the ice...
Wrapping up the year with a chilly locale, even if winter has been quite warmer than usual where I live. I've been missing the sight of snow everywhere, but definitely not the early wake ups to shovel out an keep ahead of storms.
This was a super fun piece to work on. I really wanted to play with darker ice to give it an almost sinister vibe; versus a cheery winter wonderland ice palace. At it's heart, the piece is a very neutral staging ground for all sorts of encounters and settings. I wanted to be able to create some variants that slot right into an adventure with my other terrain map sets.
