Glacier Falls [60x40]

February has been one heck of a chilly month in my neighborhood; and painting another arctic map set probably didn't help. Yet here we are with the first of two map sets for the month. The concept for this one was a set of ruins, maybe an old keep, that have slowly been swallowed by an encroaching glacier. On the surface, there's not much to be seen of note; a few cave entrances and a tower jutting out of the ice. Beneath the surface, adventurers can find a network of cave that may be simple dens of the local arctic monsters...or a secondary entrance to something built deep below the snow and icy lake.

A while back, we had a poll about types of maps folks were interested in and one of the requests was for more dungen crawls vs giant boss lairs. This set is a hybrid of the different types of maps I've been cooking up over the past year. On the surface, we have a generic large terrain locale to explore and stage some open ended encounters. The surface world links to an underground cavern crawl with a few different layouts. I started to paint this set as a white dragon lair at our usual 30x40 size, but made the decision to expand it into a larger map that will hopefully see more use. I also didn't want to toss another 10+ variants of a cave out there as we just had one of those. The white dragon lair will be getting its own unique mini-pack in the near future. It's definitely a place I want to focus on one highly detailed map for, rather than a series of variants where we shuffle around rock sizes and add a few bones and blood splatters.

Feb/March are always tough months to get extra work in, with lots of prep work needed for spring and summer projects at the day job. We do have a second pack coming for this month, along with free mini packs that should see a release either this week or the first week of March pending the amount of day job meetings.

Patrons can find the links to download their packs right below. The files sizes for these are quite large, and as such Archmage maps have been split into three parts. Every zip file contains both gridded and no grid versions of both the 200ppi and 140ppi versions of each map.
