I know many people may not vote for it because it's not as mainstream as death note and there are more fans of the current popular shonen genre but that anime is the closest thing to death note there is. The story, main character, his abilities, strategies, the chess moves you like. they're very similar and you'll love it. Hopefully you see this and at least take a look at the anime and read the summary and decide for yourself. It's also a few years old and on Netflix so you may not get copy rights for it on youtube.

2019-08-14 05:31:10 +0000 UTCSo, I've never been a big fan of the way the anime ended. I'm not really sure why they changed this from the manga. In the manga, Light realizes that Ryuk still has a Death Note and is free to write in it, and asks him to do so. Ryuk assents, saying, "Sure, I'll write," but, knowing Light has lost and not actually being on his side, he writes "Light Yagami." And for the next 40 seconds Light is reduced to the blubbering child he truly is, shouting about how he didn't want to die. Then he has a heart attack and dies. Also, an interesting note that you may have missed: The second commercial screen in this episode said that all humans go to MU (Nothingness) when they die. All humans. This shows that when Ryuk told Light at the beginning of the series that humans who use a Death Note could go to neither heaven nor hell, he was just messing with him, because in truth there IS no heaven or hell (though it's still technically the truth by default).
