Heartbeat and new projects

I've been obviously neglecting this poor Patreon page after most of the NeoGeo work was done. This was meant to be a lengthy update post about what I was up to these last months but nobody wants to read a wall of text, so this will be split up in multiple (free) posts.

The most important info for you, my beloved patrons, is that I'm definitely done spending money on NeoGeo reverse-engineering. I've got enough funds from the previous posts to finish the cartridge-compatible FPGA system (that was meant to be finished already a year ago... If only Patreon allowed to collect time !).

This means that future paid posts will be used to help me in NEW projects. My Patreon creator page was updated a few days ago to reflect these new infos.

About projects, my lack of activity here is mainly due to the fact I'm currently in the middle of shipping a commercial product. This gets absolute priority because... it's actually my main job. Therefore, I often have to relegate side-projects to night time or the week-end. I want to make it clear that the mentionned product is NeoGeo-related but hasn't beneficied at all from Patreon funds. I don't want to plug it here directly so if you're curious, just look for recent NeoGeo CD news ;)

About the non-commercial projects now: my passion for retro video game hardware is far from dying off, so I'm planning to keep spending time on reverse-engineering more or those. My current focus is about helping solving mysteries that some particular custom chips are still hiding, with hope that the new information will improve software and hardware emulators accuracy.

Since the NeoGeo MiSTer core release, people regularly ask me if I would be interested in working on particular systems (often their favorite ;)) so the "to-attempt-list" is already quite full. I never promise anything because completely reversing a custom chip is extremely time-consuming and sometimes even impossible for me to do.

Items from the list include chips from Konami, NEC, Irem, Data East, Toaplan...

The next posts will detail some of the work I've already done during these last months on a few arcade chips from Sega, Capcom, Konami and Taito.
