Added 2016-12-11 01:22:45 +0000 UTCA process vehicle is all about camera access. Directors would remove windows, remove doors, in some cases, remove the entire front, back or side, just to get the camera in there.
Also, some vehicles had their interior and exterior as seperate sets. A full size prop for the outside, and a seperae "interior" three-walled set. The Galactica Shuttle is like this, for example.
I decided I wanted all of this available to me, so Starship Awesome was designed to allow for maximum camera placement. The entire ship is modular, so that I can copy pretty much any filming setup I want by using only the parts of it I need. As in this example, where the side wall of the pilot's cabin has been removed to allow for a shot which would have been impossible otherwise.
So, it's a filming miniature. It's a full size "hero" exterior with a full interior set. It's a 3-wall studio set, and It's a process vehicle with removable parts.
Luckily, this should be the most complex construction related part of the project, and it's now almost entirely behind me.
