As you suspected, it is actually terribly inadequate! The resin provided with the Moai printer is a special blend for a laser system, needing a lot of UV energy to cure. A regular print takes hours in the bucket to fully harden and to stop stinking. DLP and LCD printers come with much faster curing resins ...

UV is a term bandied about but most things that are UV sensitive have quite narrow bands where they really are... as I found out as a callow youth playing with UVA black-light and expecting it to erase EPROMS. Then playing with UVC and getting a bad case of arc-eye. I did retry a few years later with various different EPROMS with wider/different requirements and a single UV LED placed right on the window... still no luck. There are various "glues" that cure with UV LED so maybe the resin is in the same boat.
