Streaming ;)

Good morning!!  I wanted to ask about streaming; you want to be in both languages (Spanish - English) or to be done separately?

Leave your opinion and make your comments below!! ;)

Thank you very much for commenting! The truth is that I decided to do so precisely because of the result. The community is growing day by day and I am very keen to keep growing and to give you a quality content. In the end I think the work has to speak for itself, I always try that the same content that is in Spanish is also in English and even the straming I do in both languages explaining carefully all the most important. Little by little I'm getting more fluent in the language and I will improve, I promise! ;)

So I just became a Patreon, and I almost unsubbed right away (I actually did, then I re-subbed after I saw you had your tutorials in both languages separately). I think this poll may be biased towards your Spanish patreons. I suspect that most Spanish patreons can speak and understand English quite well, but for your English patreons, they likely wouldn't understand Spanish very well. If the majority of your patreons are Spanish, then this poll would come out in their favour. A better poll would be to ask your patreons what languages they speak, Only English, Only Spanish, or Both. If you have a very small percentage that only speak Spanish, then it would make more sense to record all your streams in English only. If you have a very small percentage that only speak English, then it would make more sense to record all your streams in Spanish. If you have a split, you can alternate languages within a stream, or you can alternate languages per video, providing voice-over in the other language afterwards. That's just my science mind thinking about it. I really appreciate your talent and being able to learn from a master, but my time (and money) is very limited. So I find myself skipping over the spanish parts of your videos entirely, or putting on the horrible Youtube automatic translation subtitles and struggling along.

Then I feel it's up to the artist if he want's to attract more English speaking followers or not. I can't go learn all the languages of all the figure painters which work I love. I already know Dutch, English, French, German and some Spanish. I at least will need to learn some East-European languages and Taiwanese. Groetjes, Gino

You are already getting the same content they are. You're backing creator who's native language is different than yours. If you feel entitled to content in English, back an English speaking creator. I am thankful for Sergio's efforts to provide much of the content in both languages, even as I struggle a bit with what's lost in translation. Otherwise I would be putting some effort into picking up more Spanish to learn from him.

Maybe you can speak in English and after the livestream you can add subtitles so we can watch it again and understand everything. I'm also a follower with another Spanish figure painter, and he also tries to do his streaming in both English and Spanish. But it's very clear he's saying much more in Spanish than what he says in English, and sometimes what seems to be important things (I understand Spanish a bit, but Spanish people have the habit of speaking quite fast so I won't understand everything). I can tell you that this is very frustrating to look at. I also feel that I'm entitled to the same content as Spanish speaking people as I pay the same fee as they do. Have a nice evening, Gino.

Right now it is very complicated to do it. Maybe in the future but now, it's difficult. ;)

You're right. Thank you very much for commenting and for giving your opinion. :)

Thank you very much for comment! Maybe will be very difficult but more comfortable in both languages. I wanted to know your opinion first to make a decision. ;)

Can you have some English speaking friend next to you provide 2nd audio stream commentary that's in English that's translating you and then possibly listener can listen to only right speaker if he is coming from right side?

I love the idea to stream in both languages, I personally voted for simultaneously because I think it's fun to have the whole group together. I love that you do everything bilingually here, it's really nice of you to make your talent accessible to both audiences. I do think there may be some things that will get missed in each language unless you are super vigilant to cover both languages for a question or comment. At the same time, I think it would be a lot of extra work at least at the beginning to do two separate streams until you've built up your viewing base.

I guess it also depend on your objective. If you want to grow your international fan base (or follower base I don't know which name would be good), it will be harder if you speak spanish during your stream there will be a lot of people that won't understand you. Depend also on the frequency of the stream, you can do some spanish stream and english one's but I guess if you don't have some volume people won't find that you're streaming enought. Purple (a Hearthstone streamer) streamed nearly everyday and had one or two french speaking only stream in his schedule but he had the volume to do that, I don't know if you want or can stream as much. I choose the english and spanish choice but it could be hard on you if you have a larger spanish fanbase than english speaking one since you will have to translate every questions and your answers in both languages everytime so it will be hard on you and if you don't translate to focus on painting (which is totally understandable) I guess both side may loose some interesting questions/points. That was my thinking on that, sorry for the long post.

Hola,yo prefiero no mezclar.

Sergio Calvo Miniatures

Yes, if they are both languages, I make sure to speak both English and Spanish. ;)

Sergio Calvo Miniatures

Miguel Angel

Opino lo mismo

Juan Manuel Pozo Santiago

Antonio Rivera

For me, the more video you post, better it is... so use the less time consuming solution! That way you will be able to create more videos... just make sure you are using English to reach the biggest crowd...

Danick mailhot
