Considered styrofoam? Temperature- (and sound-) isolation are very good and it's easy to work with. Only thing it isn't: Pretty :)

I have a Prusa clone that I use, and i am working on a plastic enclosure for it. Currently I throw a large plastic container over it, but thats no fun.

At least this thing seems to work for >30h. I only got access to a Makerbot II that does not work straight for more than 8 hours or so.

Aight, the thermal switch switches about every 130 s normally, wrapped every 220 s, which is 41% less frequently, but I think it's even better than that, because the duty cycle will also be shorter and there's more heat radiating into the extruder etc ... :)

Erhm.. Is that a smart idea? Wouldn't you usually try to keep flamable material *away* from 3dprinters?
