Considered styrofoam? Temperature- (and sound-) isolation are very good and it's easy to work with. Only thing it isn't: Pretty :)

2018-02-13 18:51:08 +0000 UTCAight, the thermal switch switches about every 130 s normally, wrapped every 220 s, which is 41% less frequently, but I think it's even better than that, because the duty cycle will also be shorter and there's more heat radiating into the extruder etc ... :)
