So here we go, what we're now calling the 300,000 subscriber special episode. The Dalby Spook (AKA Gef the Talking Mongoose) is one of my all time favourite paranormal stories. It's just so goddamn weird!

It's one of those stories that I feel everyone looks at in different ways, it's totally ridiculous and can be quite funny. But when you really dig into it, it's got a really creepy underbelly to it.

Again this is another one I've wanted to do for ages, but I kept putting off because I really wanted to make sure I did it right and I knew it would be a long one. I maybe didn't expect it to be quite this long but I just couldn't stop myself. It's also I think one of the most often requested topics I recieve.

This one was a lot of work but as I mentioned on YouTube earlier, I'm really happy with how this came out.

If you don't know this story, you are in for a wild ride. If you do, hopefully there will be a bunch of stuff in there you didn't know. Hope you all enjoy it. Please do let me know your thoughts when you get through it. I will surprised if you don't have thoughts after hearing this one haha...

Much love to you all, pleasant dreams

Loved this episode!

You did a great job, it was spot on!

I think there’s a possibility for a cross over story now….

Thank you for this story! I remember reading Fodor’s Encyclopedia of Psychic Research a long time ago & seeing the story of the talking mongoose. I didn’t quite believe the story then & I’m still not fully convinced. I think the daughters had something to do with Gef.

Not a joke, the moment I sat down to edit the realisation hit me. Scariest part of the whole thing

Tape Library

Imagine if Gef had crawled out of Mels Hole

Tape Library

Great episode man. Fantastic. Best version of this story I’ve heard yet.

Bum Dandy

Wow, interesting. Like many in our little community I've never heard of this story. Thank you for sharing it. Listened to it in one sitting.

“I had to fill in 80 minutes of visuals about a mostly invisible Mongoose. “Pray for my sanity.” Loved this 😂

Alex O’Neal

Just imagine you have an invisible one!

That was definitely a wild ride. I believe that whatever it was, the family thought it was real. At the start of the episode I thought maybe it was a tulpa but as it progressed I wasn't so sure. The hard headed realist part of me says it was likely James behind it all for whatever reason but then how did Gef know so many details about things outside of the farm? I'll have to watch a few more times to fully process it all but what a silly, fun story! As always, thank you for what you do. You are appreciated. Now time for you to get some rest

CreepyCandy

Lol yes. God forbid, Im sure

I pretty much *need* a plush of him now

Weird one- I’ve never heard of this before. I can never say if anything is real, I’m less interested in that than the story itself. I do see similarities with this and other stories and even spiritual teachings (there’s talking donkeys in the Bible for instance) so I’ll keep an open mind and say it’s plausible . I’m not an authority on anything. So weird though, whatever it was happening there- similar to other stories but very unique and weirdly detailed. A rich fabric whatever it was. I was most entertained by all the weird details of the story like his taste for sandwich’s and moving brushes on furniture pieces. If I had to guess I’d say a possessed animal or something we just haven’t ever seen before. I’m thinking Mel’s hole and the whole weird seal creature- or the sorry of the weird little alien creature that was captured alive and then died someplace in Mexico you can find pics of- so many things out there we just might not see to often. Either that or a family tale that just got really really developed and became very real to them. Sometimes lines of reality can shift. Who knows but it’s a fun story to listen to and think about and keeps you curious 👀

agent 355

I want my own Gef

Tape Library

Wait, I got it right?! I was totally sure I didn't

Tape Library

The sandwich is great. My personal favourite moment though is the idea that Gef would go on strike

Tape Library

That was mental, reminds me of Sam, so intriguing. Something so extraordinary it’s beyond belief, but always the question of is it actually beyond belief? Have to see it to believe it, but do you? Actually have to see it? Off to watch the Sam episodes again…

I have never heard this story before. It was absolutely fantastic! I loved the sandwich part lolol As far as my opinion on whether there is validity to this story, I am not entirely convinced of the authenticity of every paranormal story I come across. However, for anyone to act as any sort of authority on the matter (like the men in the story) of whether the paranormal exists or not is misguided. Humanity as we know it has only been around for a mere fraction of a percentage of a blip on the timeline. Just a little over a hundred years ago the telephone was invented, and a few hundred years before that my country was discovered lol The Appalachian Mountains, however, are said to be over 480 million years old. There are guaranteed things in this world we could never begin to dream of existing at this point in humanity’s timeline. I have had a small experience myself which i cant explain and Id be called a liar over, yet i know it happened. So, when it comes to stories such as this, although I take them with a grain of salt, I still cannot bring myself to be sure they are fake.

Loved it. Need to listen to it a second time tomorrow. I might have slipped out of consciousness once or twice. As for the name. Bravo 👏 just need a hint of leprechaun for next time (j/k). Rest well after that endeavour.

Déaghán Ó Dálaigh

A talking mongoose?! I'm in 😹

sadgrrlcalli

You did ;) this is all new to me….

agent 355

I’m here, I’m here… get outta my way whilst I push the play button

London grace

Oh my god, I am so jealous. Just accept it's very silly but go along for the ride and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Tape Library

Oh wow, I made you cave finally! All worth it.

Tape Library

Not waiting…..

agent 355

Can't wait to get stuck into this one. I've never heard of it!
