That’s awesome! I am so glad I was able to be a catalyst for that lol I really appreciate your replies and am stoked to see what subject you tackle next! Your vids give me a lot to think about

Get out! 😂 I just LOVE how large the Patreon list is getting. You deserve all of that and more. I have all of these streaming services because I have a 16 yr old daughter, and I can honestly say I watch your channel more than anything else. You're so gifted Mr. TL. I know you mentioned once you were working on a feature film, I am sure it's incredible! But my selfish little self loves you chose to continue on YouTube! Keep up the mind blowing work!!

I love how many messages I've had from people who are upset Queen of Flatulence is gone haha

I fried pickles with my daughter instead of watching so tonight's the night! Just by reading comments and that thumbnail I know it's going to be dark. Just what I love! On a lighter note, Mr TL, I miss hearing you say "Queen of Flatulence!" But rickdickulous kinda makes up for it! 😂

Oh no don't worry, didn't take it as critique. I like it when these things spark conversations. You message actually led to me having a fairly lengthy conversation with a friend of mine whose work crosses over quite a bit with mental health groups.

Yes to your edit lol Hospitals with an indefinite committal no longer exist. It is more of a ‘medium’ or ‘short’ term stay at most. I apologize, I was in no way critiquing anything in your video. I really loved it! I was just giving my matter-of-fact opinion on the subject/debate of indefinite committal in order to maybe encourage a dialogue about other’s opinions on it, and I now see I was not clear on that. There seems to be differing opinions on whether indefinite committal should exist and, from my experience and studies, some people simply cannot live a healthy life on their own recognizance. Personal autonomy, for example, is an important and integral facet for everyone and a massive part of mental health treatment, but I feel it is a question on whether that is a fair argument some use to reject indefinite committal. For some, there comes a point where their autonomy begins to infringe on other’s autonomy at no fault of their own. So, I feel a common ground solution would be to have those who cannot be self reliant and continue a treatment plan have a safe place where they can live indefinitely with that assistance. I apologize for rambling, I just find this subject fascinating lol Again, fantastic vid as always!

The internet told me how to pronounce it, are you suggesting that the internet lied to me?! Please accept your new name as Day Gawn O Dar Lee I promise I will try and get it right next time haha, I'm writing this down in my notebook!

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding your point here. But there are still Psychiatric hospitals that provide long term stay aren't there? 100% there should be places to treat those that need it. My final sentence was referring to the mismanagement and cruel practices, not suggesting that hospitals for mental illness shouldn't exist so I hope it didn't come across like that. Edit - Rethought this, I guess it's now the case that people are seen and kept inside a hospital until it's believed they are more stable before being released, rather than long term committal like it was back when places like TOLA existed. So I understand what you're getting at.

As a (most likely) unpopular opinion; I feel facilities which can house people with severe mental illness for an extended amount of time should exist. And I feel this way because we have most definitely come a very long way in understanding, identifying and treating mental illness. It seems a solid amount of the individuals who find themselves stuck in a revolving door within the system/homelessness are suffering from unchecked mental illness. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are two big ones, for example. For the system, it is all one massive game of ‘catch and release’ until they die, are murdered, or commit a bad enough crime to stay incarcerated for an extended duration of time. We have so many checks and balances regarding healthcare anymore, and to say we cannot have effective mental health treatment facilities today is as backwards as saying our food processing days, for example, are still at the same quality as when The Jungle was released. Jail, on the streets, or worse is not a place for the mentally ill, and allowing this is just as (if not more) barbaric than them being housed in past asylums. I feel they deserve all of the care and compassion they can get within the confines of a facility where they don’t have the added stress of when they will receive basic necessities or commonplace safety.

Much enjoyed ☺️ I get a laugh out of you trying the Irish pronunciation. 🤣🤣 Phonetically is Deegan o daw-leg 😝

This was an awful dark time for the mentally ill. It was a cruel time for them, sadly much of this continued well into the late 1980s. But then came the next dilemma, thousands became homeless when these facilities closed down. it's been a difficult journey for the mentally ill with no real solution in sight.

The darker the better!👻

This episode is right up my alley I watch so many documentaries about asylum’s it fascinates me how people can do things that are so wrong but when put in a group setting and condoned by others it becomes excepted behaviour among the staff and not often will a singular person speak out against cruel behaviour Or intent, and become blind to how horrible it is. That part of humanity intrigues me and horrifies me.

Oh 😱 my! Thank God we have a snow day here, because that is one creepy thumbnail and I just have to watch!!
