So- now having watched this … Being from Michigan we have the Michigan dog man here- maybe there’s some sort of scary dog like spirit that does occasionally possess people and also stalks around our woods when it’s not inside of someone. Also- humans are animals and predators at that. Maybe he’s just got some sort of physical attribute in his brain that makes some primal part of his brain more accessible to him. The uncanny valley idea says we probably had human like predators in the past- a lot like us, but just ever so slightly not… maybe this type of thing was more common in time past and has sense been naturally selected out somehow. I suppose folks having this physical attribute wouldn’t be as likely to pass on genes…. Maybe they slowly became less and less common. I’m leaning towards a diagnosable clinical condition with this. Maybe the exorcism worked on the placebo idea like TL mentioned. I don’t know really. Interesting case though. I can see why you were so captivated by it tl :) And yes you better believe I have damned good coffee allllll the time ;)

But I have heard of some cases in South America of people believing they turn into a, "lobazoan" (not sure if I am spelling that right) but basically it seems to be the same thing in some sense. Though there it's only said to occur in the seventh son of a seventh son, and only if he wasn't baptized. I don't put any stock in anything that the Warren's say really though, just because they have proven that to be a mistake. But that said, there is usually some layer of truth to be found in the cases they were a part of. Even if that is the layer they tend to avoid, leave out, or ignore. And it would be interesting to look into other similar cases from other cultures, just to way those similarities against any possible differences and maybe to understand if it is a physiological or even physical symptom of some kind... how it seems to play out across continents and time the way it does. Because I know also of a case from France, back hundreds of years ago that was very similar as well. As always, thank you for another awesome episode!

2024-07-30 22:36:48 +0000 UTCVery neat entry into the Tape Library this week. I never heard about this. I find it very telling that after the exorcism, Bill never suffered another attack. I never would have correlated demonic possesion and werewolves, but since being possessed affects behavior, the entity could have caused Bill to act like this. Also, Warren Zevon made a song in 1978 called Werewolves of London, I wonder if this song was about Bill? Thanks for the entry this week, I enjoyed this! What a bizarre story.

If I'd done this back in the day though it would have likely been a 5-10 minute video so glad I held off until now.
