Yugoloths are an easy concept to describe in D&D terms - devils are lawful evil, demons are chaotic evil, and yugoloths are neutral evil, but what does that mean exactly? Entirely motivated by self interest (they were created by powerful night hags, after all) , they are among the most brutal and mercenary beings in the universe, negotiating and scheming the great Blood War so that the engines of violence and hatred never cease. Simply put, they are the least trustworthy creatures in existence and arcanaloths are among the greater of these horrible things, forging contracts and manipulating in order to get their victims to give up whatever they hold precious.
By the time your PCs get to the Amber Temple in Cos: Reloaded, I feel Neferon's disguises aren't likely to last very long. Dragnacarta didn't really intend for Neferon to show his true colors before the PCs depart the Temple or attempt to sneak some rare magic item, but I felt the opportunity to draw an arcanaloth in his ashy Gehennan finery was a little too good to pass up.
