As written, Gertruda possesses a child-like personality with few survival skills - intended to seem like a shut-in by her fearful and overprotective mother "Mad" Mary. She's also been charmed by the vampire, so she won't see him as a threat, and she has not been bitten... yet.
I've drawn her to look a late teens/early 20s (definitely an adult), of an age with Ireena, and turned the gown she's wearing in the book art into something more like a nightgown. I'm a fan of the book's Hammer Films-esque up-do, which also helps her appear a little older, so I've left it as-is.
