I'm always so unsure about posting plain ol' writing without any artwork to accompany it all the time but ya know what?? I'm gonna start doing it! >:) That'll be one of my 2022 goals; posting more fics without feeling like I need art to go with it all the time.
The artwork here, while already seen, is just to give you an idea of what the starring characters in the story look like if you need the visual!
For context: this is how Kaela initially meets Mal. Mal is distrustful toward humans but desperation is one hell of a motivator!
