So much better to believe that we are people, trying to do good. And I like your definition, to bring more joy and less harm to others.
It's possibly to overwhelm yourself seeking zero harm as well if you're an overthinker. This is one of my traps.

Very deep and powerful!
I fully agree with the reasoning, the compass can differ a lot from person to person. Also, we are our own worst critics and our judgement can be very biased. Perhaps you are a much better person than you might think? ;)

I feel the same way. It’s why I always prefer to never hold any position of power or be a leader, because I fear the Good and Happiness in me will change, so why take the risk. Instead, I shall live my Best life and help others around me live their best life when I can.

The first sign someone isn't a good person (aside from them obviously doing something vile) is if they call themselves good and list the things they do to deserve it. Usually at least. Some people think themselves evil when they're not and need that kinda affirmation. But most of the people who call themselves good are either liars or zealots.
Be kind to each other. Especially nowadays the world could use more kindness, consideration, and empathy. 🙏❤️

It does, at least to me. Do what makes you happy so long as you aren't going out of your way to intentionally harm or offend others. It's how I choose to live my life.
