Patreon Changes

Over the years of me being on this site, I've seen so many changes. Some good, some bad, some really terrible, some...never came. For years, us creators have been begging them to make an actual menu, to allow on-site video hosting, to give our patrons the option of when to be billed, etc. The site has been around since 2013. I joined 2014.

Finally....er....supposedly, Patreon listened and is making changes. What are they and what does that mean for you, my patrons?  Click the link above to see what they sent us creators. And click here for what they didn't include in that article.

Again, some good, some bad but nothing actually implemented yet.

This is why I posted the option to switch to either my website or through Discord if you didn't want to support me through Patreon. You have options.

------- Regarding NFTs & Cryptocurrency----

Some time ago, this man screen-capped people's Instagram posts, printed them on canvases, held a gallery showing and sold them for a ridiculous amount of money. I feel NFTs are basically the same thing. And because of that, I don't participate in them. Anyone can claim my Tweet and sell it as an NFT without me seeing a dime. It's another way to steal from creatives and until I see laws in place protecting us, I cannot be convinced otherwise. (Also, this topic is not up for debate. I'm sure people want to talk about it but I do not. Sorry)

I know very little about cryptocurrency (this is not an invitation for you to educate me, so please don't) and therefore have no real opinion on it. If that's your thing, cool. If not, cool too. If you don't want anything to do with Patreon because they might use it, I have choices for you to continue to support me without Patreon and you'll get the same exact perks as you do here.

------------------------------

All that said, I hope you all continue to stick around. This pandemic has hit us all pretty hard and like others, I'm in a constant state of worry about if I'm going to keep losing patrons and eventually not be able to pay my bills. My monthly pledges are half what they were at the start of the pandemic and with no end in site...it's scary.  If you *do* find you don't want to be on Patreon anymore, please consider switching instead of not supporting my art at all.

Thanks for reading this far. <3
