Patreon’s Stance On Raffles

Hi everyone!

So I just received an email that just shot fear into my soul. Like I just became really anxious and scared that they shut down my account or that I got a strike or something ?

But I didn’t, it was just an email informing me about some updates. Kind of ironic my page falls into some of the stuff they’re talking about though. That’s what made me scared.

Anyways, it has come to my attention that apparently Patreon doesn’t allow raffles on their platform.

Which is understandable because these types of contests can not be paid to enter (and there were more stipulations on the blog post that go deeper into the legality of the situation).

I however didn’t think this would be that serious of an issue seeing how I saw other Patreon creators do similar things but perhaps they actually handle it differently from how I presumed, or this was at a time when Patreon didn’t crack down on it as much?

I’m not too sure. But to protect my account from getting banned or shut down I’m going to take the raffles away from the tiers. I know it sucks but it’s against the platforms guidelines.

I could make the raffles open to anyone (non-Patrons) like Patreon states in their post BUT that will just ruin the point of it being a patreon exclusive. 😣

This news has made me very anxious because I was going to host the raffles at the start of next month but I guess that plan is over.

I hope you guys don’t feel slighted at all, my apologies. I’ll try to think of more fun things to make the page better. 😕
